Precautions During 2nd Month Of Pregnancy :
Here are a few pointers you need to keep in your mind during the 2nd month of pregnancy precautions:
Do’s:
- It is good to prepare a simple to-do list so that you will be aware of the precautions and measures to consider.
- Always remember to relax and take ample rests, since it is very important for both you and baby.
- Drink lots of fluids to stay hydrated.
- Start taking folic and vitamin medications as prescribed by the gynecologist. It is very important for your baby’s growth.
- Consume only healthy foods. Maintain a diet as approved by your doctor or nutritionist, as this will help you both during and post delivery to reduce extra weight.
- Wash fruits and vegetables and peel them, if required, to avoid eating pesticides.
- Eat small quantities throughout the day, so that it helps you digest food easily and aids in feeding your growing baby properly.
- Your breasts would show symptoms of heaviness. So, you should begin using supportive bras, so as to prevent sagging later.
- Walk at least 20 minutes every day and keep yourself busy.

Don’ts:
- Now that we have known the do’s, it’s time to know the don’ts as well. Here they are:
- Quit smoking and avoid alcohol consumption.
- Do not keep your stomach empty as it enhances gas formation that would make you feel more nauseated.
- Avoid oily and junk foods.
- Do not take any pain killers or antibiotics without the knowledge of consulting your physician.

Other Aspects During 2nd Month Pregnancy:
Apart from the do’s and don’ts there are few more factors which you need experience during your 2nd month. They are:
Medical Tests:
Your doctor will conduct various tests for this first medical visit of your pregnancy. They include pap smear for checking cervical abnormalities, urine tests and blood tests.
Urine tests are conducted to check the presence of:
- Sugar – sign of diabetes.
- Protein – sign of kidney problem or hypertension caused during pregnancy.
Blood tests are conducted to check for:
- Iron and hemoglobin levels
- Infectious diseases
- Immunity disorders like chicken pox or rubella
- ABO blood group
- Genetic disorders
- Your blood pressure and weight are checked that are taken for each visit to the doctor.

Emotional Changes And Depression:
Though pregnancy is filled with joy for the mother, this is the biggest challenge for you in this month. You will experience:
- Mixed feelings filled with excitement, doubt and more
- Unpleasant symptoms like nausea that makes you resentful.
- Scary feeling that results from any previous bad pregnancy experience.
- Worry on the alcohol you consumed before knowing about the pregnancy.
- Concern on losing your baby.
- Worry about child care.
- Issues on self esteem.
- Major depression that disrupts the normal functioning.
- You may easily deal with the above emotional and depressed feelings:
- You need to understand and know that these feelings are common during pregnancy.
- If the things are getting worse with your spouse because of these feelings, try to resolve the problems by talking with him
- Talk to your doctor when you suffer from these symptoms of depression:
o Spontaneous crying and uncertain tearfulness
o Uncontrollable feeling
o Anger, sadness and hopelessness
o Lack of libido
Concerns During your 2nd Month:
Vaginal bleeding affects nearly 20% – 30% pregnancies. It ranges from light spotting to severe bleeding. There are a number of reasons for this concern.
- Implantation bleeding that is common.
- Bleeding after intercourse as the cervix is prone to bleeding.
- Miscarriage is the cause that happens with bleeding. Hormonal problems also lead to miscarriage.
Tips For The Month:
- Indulge yourself in any hobby as often as you can, this will divert you from changes happening in your body. Or else, cultivate activities like reading good books or painting and so on.
- Drink lots of fruit juices, especially of pomegranate, as this helps in maintaining the increased blood flow and gives the required iron to your body. Hydrating your body is important to keep up the flow and coolness in the body as it happens to be hot in this month.
It is really exciting to see the development and changes with your little one in your womb. Be aware of the aspects occurring in you; if you find something abnormal seek medical help immediately. Take care of yourself and your baby for a safe and happy delivery.
