Adele was spotted vacationing with Harry Styles in the Caribbean. But, what drew more attention was Adele’s stunning body transformation. She’s lost 100 pounds and looked comfortable in her own skin. Was Adele on a diet and workout routine? Did she undergo surgery? What can you learn from her weight loss journey? Keep reading to find out.

Did Adele Really Lose 100 Pounds?

Yes, Adele has lost about 100 pounds or 7 stones. She confirmed that to a fan, and she looked happy and glowing. If you look at Adele’s pictures since the inception of her groundbreaking career, you will notice that she lost 100 pounds slowly over a period of more than 10 years. To know how this body transformation happened, we have to go back in time.

Adele’s Body Transformation – How It All Started?

In 2009, Adele revealed to the Daily Mail that her weight never really bothered her. She said, “I have never been insecure, ever, about how I look, about what I want to do with myself,” and then went on to say, “My mom told me to only ever do things for myself, not for others.”

She had also told the People, “I’d lose weight if I was an actress and had to play a role where you’re supposed to be 40 pounds lighter, but weight has nothing to do with my career. Even when I was signing a contract, most of the industry knew if anyone ever dared say lose weight to me, they wouldn’t be working with me.” What prompted her weight loss?

Why Adele Lose 100 Pounds?

In December 2011, Adele got admitted to the hospital to get her vocal chord operated. She looked slimmer at the Brit Awards in 2012. However, it was not clear whether the restricted diet in the hospital triggered her weight loss. Soon after, Adele gave birth to her son, Angelo, with her partner Simon Konecki.

She took a break from the spotlight as she was busy being a mom. However, at the 2013 Grammy Awards, she looked stunning and shapely in her red floral dress. She started working for her next album that got released in 2015. She was also touring to promote the album, and that’s when she decided to lead a better lifestyle. How? Find out next.

Adele changed her eating habits slowly. She revealed in an interview, “I used to drink 10 cups a day with two sugars in each so I was on 20 sugars a day. Now I don’t drink it and I have more energy than ever.”

Point noted! First, cut down on sugar. What else? She replaced chugging a jar of beer with plant-based food.

In 2016, Adele started following the Sirtfood Diet created by her fitness trainer Pete Geracimo. This diet allows dieters to consume kale, turmeric, green tea, and buckwheat. These foods are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, dietary fiber, and minerals that help boost metabolism, flush out toxins, cleanse the colon, build strong immunity, and help shed fat.

In fact, some people have lost about 7 pounds in just 7 days following this diet. Her nutritionist, Jennifer Irvin said, “She’s eating a really clean diet, with lots of fruit and vegetables, plus lean protein and complex carbohydrates.”

What about her workout routine? Here’s what she does to keep herself active.

Adele trains with Pete Geracimo and Brazilian Pilates trainer, Camilla Goodis. She does grueling circuit training, weightlifting, and cable machines to keep herself in shape.

But she is brutally honest about not liking to work out in the gym. In an interview with the Mirror, she said, “I don’t enjoy it. I do like doing weights. I don’t like looking in the mirror.” She also said, “I’ve never had a problem with the way I look. I’d rather have lunch with my friends than go to a gym.”

She told Vogue that she wanted to build some stamina before her tour, and that’s why she needed to lose weight and follow a healthy lifestyle. But her Instagram posts show that though hitting the gym is not her jam, dancing crazy and swimming are.

The bottom line is to stay active. You do not have to lift weights and run a marathon. Do what makes you happy – dance, play a sport, swim, etc. And you will start shedding the pounds. Lose pounds to get fit and feel happy. It is never the other way round.

  • If you have a desk job, get up and take a walk every hour.
  • Walk to and from work or the school/grocery store.
  • Toss out all the junk food from your pantry.
  • Fill your kitchen cupboards and refrigerator with veggies, fruits, eggs, cheese, full-fat milk, lean protein, legumes, nuts, dark chocolate, olive oil, and ghee.
  • Maintain a journal to keep track of your progress.
  • Sleep for at least 6-7 hours per day.
  • Take a break from your mundane daily routine and go on a trip.
  • Learn new skills so that you do not feel stuck in a box, which can often lead to stress.
  • Make it a habit to keep being fit for as long as you have the physical and mental strength.

Bottom Line

Adele’s weight loss has shocked and surprised many. But remember, the weight keeps fluctuating, and it does not determine how healthy you are. Focus on eating healthy and staying active. Do not feel pressured to lose weight because your favorite celeb has done so.

However, if you feel the need to lose weight, do it the right way – talk to a registered dietitian and get a customized diet chart. Staying active will help you improve your physical and mental health.

Adele will remain one of the most talented singers/songwriters, whatever size she is. Her music speaks to billions, and that’s all that matters.
