10 Fun Dragon Crafts For Kids Of All Ages
Right from the days of the animated movie ‘The Flight of Dragons’, dragon cartoon characters have been extremely popular among kids. Most children enjoy gazing at those fearsome fire-breathers. 1. Clay Dragon Craft:
You Will Need:
- Green clay
- Little white and black clay
How To:
- Help your kid create the shape of a dragon by molding the green clay with his hands. Form the head, body, long tail, scales, and four legs of the animal by using the green earth.
- Develop the denture or teeth of the clay dragon by using the white clay and place the teeth inside the mouth of the animal in series.
- Create two eyes of the dragon by using white and black clay.

2. Dragon Bookmark Craft:
You Will Need:
- Stiff white and green card paper
- Pencil
- Sketch pens
- Scissors
- Glue
How To:
- Cut a long vertical strip about six centimeters wide out of the white card paper forming the body of the bookmark.
- Draw the head of the dragon on a stiff green card paper by using a pencil and cut it out by using the scissors. Create eyes, nose, ears, mouth, and scales of the dragon by using colorful sketch pens.
- Glue to green dragon head on the top of the white bookmark strip.
- Draw two paws of the dragon on green card paper and cut them out using the scissors.
- Paste the two paws at the bottom of the white strip and your dragon bookmark is ready.
3. Dragon Lantern Craft:
You Will Need:
- Lots of red vertical lanterns about 20
- Long strings
- Large sheets of red craft paper
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Glue
- Food colors, such as red, yellow, orange, white, and other colors
- Paintbrush
How To:
- Draw the face of a dragon on the large sheet of red craft paper by using a pencil, and cut it out by using the scissors. Create its eyes, mouth, nose, and other facial parts and color them by using various food colors and a paint brush. Paint ears green, eyes black and white, face red, teeth red and yellow, and mouth red emitting the fire.
- Place red vertical lanterns in a curve behind the head of the dragon such that they make the dragon’s body and tail.
- Now, have the entire lantern dragon craft on the ceiling by using long strings as you see in the image. Once you have hung the Dragon craft on the ceiling lit the lamps from inside. This is an easy dragon craft for preschoolers to make!

4. Dragon Art Invitation Card Craft:
You Will Need:
- A cream colored card paper.
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Food colors, namely green, blue, white, and black
- A paintbrush
How To:
- Cut the cream colored card paper in a square shape.
- Draw an image of a dragon on the card such that the dragon makes the three-sided square with its body and tail. Create long head, ears, eyes, body, legs, scales, wings, and a long tail of the animal.
- Color wings blue, eyes black and white, and body of the dragon green by using blue, black, white, and green food colors respectively.
- Write your greetings in the card area, which the body of the dragon encloses on three sides.
5. Spaghetti Dragon Craft:
You Will Need:
- Lots of spaghetti
- One carrot
- A cucumber
- Corns
- Blackberries
- Chili flakes
- A green dish
- Knife
How To:
- Arrange lots of spaghetti on the green plate in such a manner that they create the face and long body of the dragon as you see in the image.
- Cut two round slices of cucumber and carrot by using a knife.
- Place two slices of cucumber on the face of the spaghetti dragon and two carrot slices on them developing the eyes of the dragon. Keep two blackberries on the eyes as the eyeballs of the animal.
- Organize the corns in a row from the mouth of the dragon such that they form the long tongue of the dragon.
- Arrange blackberries at the end of the dragon’s body in a row creating the tail of the animal.
- Spread four spaghetti noodles making the four legs of the dragon, fill the space between them with chili flakes, and your spaghetti dragon is ready.
6. Brinjal Dragon Craft:
You Will Need:
- Two long brinjals
- A cucumber
- One carrot
- Corns
- One potato
- Knife
- Peeler
- Glue
How To:
- Place one long brinjal over the other and fix the structure with the help of glue. The upper brinjal forms the head of the dragon and the lower one makes the body of the animal.
- Cut two big circles and two small circles out of the cucumber by using a knife. Place two big cucumber circles on the face of the dragon and other two small on the big ones and paste them. Keep two peels of brinjal horizontally on them and complete the eyes of the vegetable dragon.
- Peel the skin of cucumber and carrot by using a peeler.
- Cut the cucumber skin in the shape of the wings of the dragon and paste them on two sides of the vegetable dragon.
- Cut the carrot skin in the form of dragon’s legs and glue them to the bottom of the craft as the legs of the animal.
- Glue the lots of corns in a circular line at the lower part of the upper brinjal as the teeth of the dragon.
- Cut two rings out of the potato, glue both the rings below the eyes as the nostrils of the animal, and your Dragon vegetable craft is ready.
7. Beaded Dragon Craft:
You Will Need:
- Lots of short and long wires
- Colorful beads, such as yellow, orange, green, red, black, white, and light green colored beads
- Threads as needed
- Glue
How To:
- Bend the long wires and create an outline of the dragon. Create the outer head structure, body, legs, and tail of the animal by framing the long cables.
- Make minute details of the dragon by bending and pasting short wires. Develop the ears, fire, the expansion of the tail, and mouth by using small wires.
- Thread various colorful beads through the wire structure and create the colorful, beaded dragon. Thread yellow beads through the entire body of the dragon. Outline the legs with green beads. Thread in light green beads through the tail and red beads through the back and head of the animal.
- Create the eyes of the dragon by threading the black beads.

8. Quilling Dragon Craft:
You Will Need:
- Lots of quilling paper strips of green, orange, and pink colors
- Quilling machine
- Glue
How To:
- Bend pink quilling paper strips, join them by using glue, and create the outline of the dragon. Develop the face, mouth, body, four legs, and tail of the dragon by using quilling techniques and quilling tools.
- Use green quilling strips to fill in the body of the dragon. Bend green strips in a zigzag manner and fill in the face, legs, and the body of the dragon.
- Develop two eyes of the animal by making two coils out of orange paper and sticking them in the face. Make the scales of the dragon by making a zigzag structure of pink quilling strips.
9. Foam Dragon Craft:
You Will Need:
- A large sheet of brown foam
- A black marker
- A sharp blade to make markings
- Sharp knife and scissors
How To:
- Draw an image of a dragon on the large brown foam sheet by using a black marker. Create the head, body, four legs, scales, and tail of the animal.
- Cut the dragon’s image out of the foam by using a sharp knife.
- Make minute markings on the dragon’s picture by using the marker. Create eyes, mouth, tongue, scales, and other small body parts of the creature. Cut the foam accordingly by using the knife or scissors as per the need.
10. Dragon Mural Painting:
You Will Need:
- Plain blue colored wall
- A pencil
- Black marker
- Brown food color
- Paint brush
How To:
- Guide your kid to draw an image of a dragon on a plain, blue wall with the help of a pencil. Create the head, body, wings, scales, legs, and the tail of the dragon on the wall.
- Paint the drawn dragon brown by using brown food color and a paint brush.
