Top 10 Fall Festival Games & Activities For Kids

It is that time of the year again! The gusts of wind carry a slight chill, the air is thick with a delicious smell, and the trees are beginning to shed their leaves. Autumn is here in all its glory. This season help your little one celebrate the lovely colors and wonderful weather with a fall festival. Falls festivals and carnivals are a great way to bring the kids together and raise funds. Here are few fall activities for kids that will be a sure shot hit at your fall festival and harvest party.

Fall Festival Games & Activities For Kids

1. The Apple Challenge:

You Will Need:

  • 4 to 6 apples
  • 9 baskets or buckets
  • Cones or rope

How To:

  1. Make a starting line with the cones or a rope.
  1. Line the buckets or baskets in three rows.
  1. Place a large apple in one of the baskets.
  1. Give each player 3 apples and tell them to stand behind the line.
  1. Now tell them to put them three in a row, just like a tic tac toe game.

2. Pumpkin Patch Walk:

You Will Need:

  • Pumpkin cutouts
  • Sharpie or marker
  • Music player
  • Masking tape

How To:

  1. Make the pumpkin cutouts using the marker.
  1. Now laminate the pumpkin with a packing tape so that it does not tear while playing.
  1. Now decide the number of players to play in the game. If you have ten pumpkin cutouts, then select 11 players to play the game.
  1. Arrange the pumpkin cutouts in a circle.
  1. Now tell the players to stand on one of the pumpkin cutouts. You can even assign numbers to the players corresponding to the cutout.
  1. As you play the music, the participants have to walk around the circle, on the pumpkin cutouts. And when you stop the music, the players have to stop walking.
  1. The player who cannot stand on any pumpkin cutout will be out of the game. Remove one pumpkin cutout too.
  1. Continue the game until last kid standing.

3. Grab The Apple:

You Will Need:

  • 1 large bucket
  • 24 to 42 plastic apples
  • A sturdy table
  • 6 small nets
  • Paper
  • Pen

How To:

  1. Fill a large bucket with water, 3/4th way up. Place the bucket on a table.
  1. Make small slips of paper for each top prize.
  1. Fill the apples with small prizes and slips for the top prizes.
  1. Now tell the kids to pick up the apples using only their mouth. Touching hands is not allowed.
  1. The Apple that they pick with their mouth will be the prize that they will receive.

4. Penny Toss:

You Will Need:

  • Pennies
  • 3 glass containers
  • An aquarium
  • Toy fish, shells, and seahorse

How To:

  1. Place three glass containers in the aquarium and fill it with water. Add a drop of blue color for extra fun.
  1. Now drop the toy fish, seahorse and shells.
  1. Give each player 2 pennies to drop into the jar.
  1. Reward the child who manages to put at least 2 out of three pennies in the jars.
  1. Give the top prizes to kids who toss all three pennies in the jar. This is one of the best fall games for kids.

5. Spider’s Web:

You Will Need:

  • A large spider web made of the black rope
  • Toy spiders and bugs
  • Containers or baskets
  • Web

How To:

  1. Set up the net before the festival. It must be suspended from the air and must be some feet behind to give room for the containers.
  1. Make the start line at least 4 to 6 feet from the net. Tell the kids stand behind the line. Younger kids can stand 3 to 4 feet away.
  1. Give the kids three toy spiders or bugs to toss from one side of the web into the containers.
  1. Give consolation prizes to the player if no bug makes into the containers.
  1. If just one or two bugs go to the container, then give the players 2 second prizes.
  1. If all three make it to the container, then the player will receive the top prize.

6. Pumpkin Ring Toss:

You Will Need:

  • Pumpkins with long stems
  • Rings to toss
  • Rope
  • Fall flowers, decorative leaves and hay for the decorations

How To:

  1. Set up the pumpkin patch before the festival. Use the fall leaves, hay and decorative leaves for creating the patch.
  1. Make a starting line, 4 to 6 feet from the pumpkin patch, depending on the players’ age.
  1. Give each player three rings to toss on the pumpkins.
  1. If the player rings 2 to 3 pumpkins, then give him consolation prize and if he throws three pumpkins, give him the top prize. This is the best fun fall activities for kids which you must try in this fabulous season.

7. Haystack Search:

You Will Need:

  • Large bails of hay
  • A few dozen of festival prizes like rings, bubble gum coins, packets of candies, and half a dollar and so on.

How To:

  1. Spread out the hay out and hide the prizes well.
  1. The players have to search for their carnival prizes. They can search for one prize per ticket. This game is the ideal fall activities for children to beat summer boredom.

Note:

  1. Limit the number of players searching for the prizes to one at a time.
  1. Select prizes that will not break when stepped on.

8. Three Legged Race:

You Will Need:

  • Old stockings
  • 3 feet long strips of rags
  • Objects to create obstacles

How To:

  1. Tie one player’s left leg with their player’s right leg.
  1. Let them practice walking together until they get the rhythm going.
  1. Mark the start and finish line. Create some obstacles on the way.
  1. Tell all the players to stand near the start line and begin the race.
  1. Reward the first, second and third winners with prizes.

9. Popcorn Relay Race:

You Will Need:

  • Bowls
  • Straw
  • Popcorn
  • Small cups per team
  • Table and chair

How To:

  1. Tell all the kids to sit on the chair and place a bowl of popcorn, straw and a cup in front of them.
  1. Now tell them to transfer the popcorn to the other bowl using the straw.
  1. The child who finishes the bowl fastest will be the winner.

10. Pop The Pumpkin:

You Will Need:

  • Pumpkin shaped balloons
  • Foam board
  • Candies
  • Burlap
  • Duct tape
  • Confetti
  • Dart

How To:

  1. Cover the board with burlap and secure with the tape.
  1. Fill the pumpkin shaped balloons with candies and some with confetti.
  1. Inflate and tie the balloons and attach to the board.
  1. Give the kids five chances to pop the balloon with the dart.
  1. Players are free to take home the candies.
