Simple Family Tree Crafts For Kids

Follow the instructions below for family tree craft for kids:

1. Coffee Filter Flowers:

You Will Need:

  • Coffee filters
  • Crayons, marker pens or watercolors
  • Washi tape
  • Straws
  • A pair of scissors
  • Old bottles and jars

How To:

1. Ask your kids to color the coffee filters.

2. Show your kids how to make small flowers using the filters. Fold the filter in half, scrunch them up, twist them from side to side and roll up like a rose.

3. Take the straw and slip it into the center of the rolled up coffee filter.

4. Using the washi tape, stick the straw in place. Make as many flowers as you want.

5. Use old bottles and jars as a vase for the flowers.

2. Colored Bath Salts:

You Will Need:

  • An empty bottle or jar
  • Some bowls
  • Food coloring (3-4 shades)
  • Epsom salts
  • Perfume or any essential oil
  • Wax paper

How To:

1. Let your kids fill the empty jar up with Epsom salts.

2. Take a small measure of the salt out in a small bowl.

3. Show your kids how to mix the color spreads evenly.

4. Ask them to add some perfume or essential oil to the salt and mix it again.

5. Set the salt out on wax paper to dry.

6. Store the prepared salt in a jar for a few weeks.

3. No Sew Blanket:

You Will Need:

  • Two pieces of fleece (design and color coordinated)
  • The size of the blanket depends on your measurement
  • Ruler
  • Pens or pencil
  • A pair of scissors

How To:

1. Lay out the piece of fleece on the back of the blanket. The side that will form the back should face down. Ask your kids to help you smooth the fleece out using their hands.

2. Ask your kids to lay the front part of the blanket down. Place this piece on the other piece and smooth it out using your hands.

3. Trim the sides to get the size down to what you want. The finished blanket will be 8-10 inches smaller so trim accordingly.

4. Depending on the size of the blanket, you want the fringe to be measure in from the corners and ask your kids to draw a square. For example, if you want the fringe to be around 5 inches, measure a 5 inch square from the corner. Do this for each corner.

5. Cut out the squares by firmly holding down both the fleece. Tie the fringes along all sides of both pieces of the fleece.

6. Proceed to tie the fringes up in knots, using both the front and back fleece. Once you’ve tied up the entire fringe, your blanket is ready.

4. Footprint T-Shirt:

You Will Need:

  • Plain white T-shirt
  • Cardboard
  • Fabric paints
  • Paint brushes
  • Shallow containers

How To:

1. Lay out the T-shirt on a flat surface. Place a piece of cardboard inside the T-shirt, to prevent the paint from leaking onto the back.

2. Squeeze out some fabric paint into the container and spread it to cover the container evenly.

3. Step on the paint and make sure it covers the bottom of the foot completely. Step on the T-shirt to leave an imprint.

4. Make it more interesting by allotting one color for each member of the family.

  • A shallow dish

1. Spread the paint in the dish and spread it out evenly.

How To:

1. Ask your kid to fill up the jar with the fake leaves. There should be a little space left on the neck of the jar.

2. Fill the top with the scented potpourri.

3. Place the battery-operated tea light on top and close the lid.
