1. Murder Mystery:

You Will Need:

  • Paper
  • Pen

How To:

  1. Create a gripping story, character list and solution to the murder mystery. Do not tell the kids about it.
  1. Now assign the kids a part in the story and hide the clues around the house.
  1. Tell the tweens to act their role and figure out the murder mystery together. It cannot get spookier.

2. Candy Hunt:

You Will Need:

  • Candies and chocolates
  • Flashlights
  • Bags

How To:

  1. Hide the candy and chocolates in your backyard.
  1. Assemble the kids in the yard and divide them into 3 to 4 groups.
  1. Once it’s dusk, hand each child a flashlight and a bag and tell them to find the candies.
  1. Assign them a time limit, maximum one hour.
  1. The team that collects the most candies and chocolates will be the winner.

  1. Use the red, blue, green and black markers to make creepy eyes on the ping-pong ball.
  1. Place the candy at the bottom of the baskets and keep on the floor.
  1. Give each player 3 to 5 ping-pong balls and tell them to try to toss the ball into the basket.
  1. If they toss it successfully to the basket, reward them with candy from the basket.
  1. Make the game hard by placing the basket on moving objects or moving the baskets around.

  • Sharpie marker
  • Prizes

How To:

  1. Assemble the kids in the large area. You should have as many prizes as the pumpkins.
  1. Mark each pumpkin with a number using a marker. Give its corresponding gift the same number. Hide the pumpkin in the backyard or garden.
  1. Now tell the tweens to hunt for the pumpkin as you call out ‘go.’

  1. Split the teams into 2 to 4 teams. Let them choose which kid they would want to dress as scarecrows. The scarecrow has to stand a few feet from the team.

  • Toothpick
  • A chalk

How To:

  1. Make a start and finish line on the table.
  1. Give each player a peanut and toothpick. Place the toothpick in their mouth.
  1. Now tell the kids to use the toothpick to push and roll the peanut from the starting to the finish line.
  1. Do not make the distance between the start and finish line, as it is a slow race.
