Most of you may be pretty careful about your skin care routine. But while you may have very specific skin care treatments for the summers and winters, one season where we do not pay much attention to detail is monsoon. Monsoon is a time when our skin experiences various problems. It is a time when you experience severe humidity, sweat, grime and heat as well as dampness and moisture. With the constant change in temperature and weather, your skin is constantly getting affected.

Monsoons bring with them a new set of skin problems. Your skin may be suddenly oily and shiny, or it may start looking dull and dry. No matter what skin type you have, almost everyone gets affected during this season. This happens mostly because of the high humidity, and also because of the fact that we wash our face repeatedly to clean all the grime and sweat.

If you too have experienced these problems, or would like to prevent them from happening, here are a few ‘special’ face masks that will help to keep your skin problem free and fresh:

1. Oatmeal and egg mask:

  • In a bowl, mix together 3 tsp. oatmeal, 1 eggs white and 1 tsp. each of honey and curd.
  • Make sure this turns into a nice smooth paste consistency.
  • Now apply this paste onto the cleansed face
  • Let it stay for some time.
  • Wash off with regular water after half an hour.
  • Use this mix twice a week.

2. Oatmeal and rose water mask:

  • In a bowl, mix together 3 tsp. oatmeal, 1 tbsp. rose water and 1 tsp. each of honey and curd.
  • Make sure this turns into a nice smooth paste consistency.
  • Now apply this paste onto the cleansed face
  • Let it stay for some time.
  • Wash off with regular water after half an hour.
  • Use this mix twice a week.

3. Fuller’s earth pack:

  • In a bowl, mix a tbsp. of fuller’s earth (multani mitti) with adequate amount of rose water
  • Whip this together to make a paste.
  • The paste should be thick and smooth in consistency, making sure there are no granules.
  • Apply this once a week on your face,
  • This pack is best suited for those with oily/ combination skin.
  • Those with dry skin may give this a miss.
  • Alternately, if you have dry skin and still want to use it, make sure you use a good moisturiser once you have washed it off.

4. Besan, turmeric, lemon and rose water mask:

  • Mix one tsp. of gram powder (besan) with a pinch of turmeric.
  • Squeeze in 2-3 drops of lemon juice and add 1-2 tsp. of rose water to make a paste.
  • Apply this pack onto the face and wash off after 15-20 minutes.
  • This is suitable for all skin types, except for those who have sensitive skin.
  • It will help in imparting a natural glow to the skin.

5. Fresh fruit mask:

  • In a bowl, place a 1inch piece each of banana, apple, peach, 1 strawberry (or add any fruits of your choice) and 1 tsp honey.
  • Now mash all these using a fork.
  • Alternatively, you may blend these in a blender too.
  • Apply this thick paste onto your face, let sit for some time and wash off to get glowing skin.

With so many options available, we are sure you’ll have enough ways to take care of your skin this monsoon. Do try these out and let us know how it worked for you.
