Christmas is that time of year when most people tend to loosen up a little, after all, it’s hard to maintain that stiff upper lip with all of the festivities and general good cheer surrounding you.
However, a new survey shows that office goers are indulging a little more than would be the norm at the office christmas party, with 39 percent of workers admitting to have had sex at the company Christmas gig, a number that seems unusually high even after factoring in the company’s generously provided cocktails and the indulgent time of year.
The study which was carried out by Ann Summers, a UK based lingerie retailer, also throws light on the type of employees who were most likely to relieve some sexual tension – with HR, legal, and IT the most likely to shed their professional persona, with each of the three categories at 72 percent or more.

Interestingly, it was the senior managers by far who were likely to get down and dirty at an unprecedented 65 percent, with only 26 percent of their junior colleagues likely to follow suit.
Those who were in departments pertaining to health (52 percent) and education (45 percent) were the least likely to indulge, though those numbers are not too far off from those most likely to get amorous.
When it comes to the question of where to sleep with their co-workers, the car park, the boardroom, and perhaps expectedly, their own desk were the most popular answers.
Considering that we spend the majority of our days in close proximity with those whom we work, it is entirely unsurprising that we tend to fall for one or two and that our feelings are reciprocated. The number of people acting upon their fancies however are certainly higher than we would have predicted.
