Do you at times get confused about how to approach your little one when he is glum and silent? Are you still figuring out the best way to bring up your child? Well, then you should understand one simple fact of life. Parenting is an exciting, and yet a sensitive phase in one’s life. How you deal with your child will make a large impact in shaping his formative, as well as later years.

We agree that your concerns as a parent are genuine. However, stressing about it endlessly can only strain your relationship with your child. The best thing that you could do as a parent is to relax and stay calm under stressful conditions. Your calm behavior creates a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere at home.

5 Ways Of Good Parenting:

Some of the key factors that you need to keep in mind in your journey of parenting are as follows:

1. Be Relaxed And Calm:

If you are stressed and get into a panic mode over trivial issues, it will affect your child too. Stress in any form is not good for you or for your little bundle of joy. A relaxed environment at home helps your child to evolve as an emotionally balanced individual.

2. Lead By Example:

Be a role model to your child. If you want your child to be disciplined, you should practice self-discipline yourself first. Practice before you preach. When you respect your peers, your child also learns to respect others by observing you. If you behave well with your friends, neighbors, colleagues, relative and parents then your child will follow your lead.

3. Have An Open Channel Of Communication:

It is important that you have a clear channel of communication with your child. Even when he is just a baby, talking to him regularly helps in building a bond between the two of you. It helps him develop his speech and vocabulary.

As your child grows, an open channel of communication helps you to know and understand what’s going on in his mind. Rather than depending on new gadgets to know about your child’s whereabouts, it’s better to have a one-on-one dialogue with your child. An environment that is conducive for discussions and dialogue are of prime importance to help in making him more confident, secure and independent.

4. Spend Time With Your Child:

The most important and best gift that you can give to your child is your time. Nothing can bring him more joy, fun and warmth than your presence.

Spend time with your child by going out on fun trips, playing games or watching a movie together. These activities help in creating a strong bond between you two. Talk to him about his school, friends or his favorite hobby to make him understand that you genuinely care for him.

5. Have Faith In Your Child:

As a parent, you want to provide all the help to your child. But remember that over indulgence has a negative impact on him as he becomes overly dependent on you. Such dependence hinders his emotional and mental growth.

It’s a good idea to let your child do things on his own. Even if he fails while doing it, he learns from his failure. But again, your role as guide comes into the picture here. You can ask him to adopt the lessons to correct his mistakes in the future.

Please do share your ideas and tips on parenting on this forum so that they can also learn new concepts. Hope you have a wonderful time with your child!
