9 Unique and Easy Tricks to Tackle Your Baby’s Problems!
Being a mother is not an easy job. You spend all your time on your toes, managing the needs and necessities of your children and ensuring that your family remains fit and healthy.
However, despite your best efforts, there may be times when your child may fall sick. And your baby being sick is a trying time for both you and your little one. They may be too small to explain their discomfort and, as a mother, you remain anxious about getting them better.
Here, we present you with some handy tips to help you manage things when your child falls sick.
1. Tracking The Medicine Doses
With a sick child, your daily schedule goes for a toss and you may even forget to give your child their medicines on time. To prevent such lapse, it is a great idea to use stickers on their medicine box that will indicate the days and the doses of medicines given to your child. This will also help you remember and manage the medicine schedule and make up for any missed doses.
2. Relief From Teething Toothache
When your child is teething, their gums may be swollen and sore. You can alleviate their pain by using a metal or plastic spoon with soft edges. Keep the spoon inside the fridge and let it cool. The spoon acts as a cold compress and soothes your baby’s puffy painful gums. Plus, it also acts like a teether to comfort them.
3. Relief From Earache
If you think your child is suffering from an earache, consult a doctor to find out if it could be a case of an ear infection. However, you can also follow a tried and tested home remedy of using rock-salt. Take some coarse rock-salt and heat it up. Now put it on a piece of clean cotton cloth or an unused cotton sock and add a few drops of gentle essential oils like lavender and chamomile. Apply it gently on your baby’s ears to relieve them of the earache.
4. Treating Mouth Ulcers
Though most ulcers heal on their own, they can be quite a pain. Instead of using ulcer creams, you can use ghee. Dab some ghee straight on the ulcer spot to make it heal faster. You can use honey or coconut milk/oil in the same way. And give your baby cooling foods like yogurt and milk, while avoiding salty or acidic items. Additionally, keep your baby well hydrated to prevent drying of the mouth, which can make the ulcers worst.
5. Relief From Burns
If there is a minor burn injury, you can make effective use of white vinegar and baking soda. Directly apply some diluted vinegar on the wound using a cotton ball, which will help the skin reach its natural pH levels and relieve it of the stinging pain. But do not use it for major burns. After rinsing off the vinegar, mix some baking soda with filtered water to make a paste and apply it on the wound. When it dries, rinse it off, and apply again.
6. Removing Splinters
If there is a prickly, painful splinter, you can get it out using a thick paste of baking soda and water. Apply the paste on the area and cover it with a band-aid. After a while remove the bandage and re-apply the paste. Keep repeating the process till the splinter surfaces on its own.
7. Ease The Cough
If your baby is suffering from cough, you can rub some Vicks VapoRub on their feet and soles, then put on the socks. Do it as a bedtime regime and you will see a difference.
8. Alleviate Headache
If you gently press and rub the soft spot between your baby’s thumb and fore-finger, it will give them instant relief from the headache.
9. Heal The Sunburn
In case your baby’s skin has suffered sunburn, apply some cool, refrigerated aloe vera gel on their skin for faster healing and nourishment.
If your child feels sick due to any of the above reasons, do follow the tips to make sure they feel better – and so do you!
