It is easy to think of fun activities to do with preschoolers when the sun is shining, but it can be a bit tricky in winter. Only a few things can keep the toddlers happy and active in the cold weather. And just because you don’t get enough sunlight, it doesn’t mean that you have to hibernate until the arrival of spring. You should take advantage of the cozy weather by involving your kids in some educational activities. 1. Winter Bulletin Board:

You Will Need:

  • Snowman (created by kids).
  • White cardboards
  • Crayons
  • Blue poster board.
  • Epson salt
  • Chalk
  • Quilting batting
  • White cotton balls.

How To:

  1. Tell the preschoolers to design a snowman on the white cardboard. They are free to make it any way they like.
  1. Now tell them to mix Epson salt with water and apply the mixture on the poster board. It will create a snow effect.
  1. When the paint has dried, tell the kids to make snowflakes using the white chalk and hills using the batting.
  1. Glue a few cotton balls on the poster board.

  • Disposable bowl
  • Eyedropper
  • Salt
  • Watercolor

How To:

  1. Tell the kids to fill the paper cups with water and freeze overnight.
  1. On the next day of the experiment, tell your toddler to peel off the paper and place the ice on the disposable bowl.
  1. Tell him to mix watercolor with water and drop the colored water on the ice using an eyedropper.
  1. Now tell your kid to sprinkle some salt on the ice and see what happens.
  1. The salt will melt the ice, and the colored water will make the salt granules look like colored crystals.

  • Sand toys
  • Food coloring in different colors
  • Water

How To:

  1. Tell your child to make different batches of colored water using food coloring. Make sure you assist your kid in this method.
  1. Pour the colored water into the molds and freeze overnight.
  1. When the kids are sleeping, remove the mold and hide them in the backyard, in the snow.

For The White Play Dough:

  • 1 cup corn flour
  • ½ cup salt
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • 1 tablespoon of cream of tartar
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • A few drops liquid glycerin
  • Silver glitter

How To:

  1. Combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl and add the oil.
  1. Now pour the boiling water and mix well. Knead to make the dough soft and smooth. Add glitter if desired.

  • Pretzel sticks

  1. Give your kid two marshmallows, a few raisins, and three pretzel sticks.
  1. Tell your child to put one pretzel stick into the middle of one marshmallow. Now place another marshmallow on top through the pretzel stick.
  1. Break the other pretzel stick in two and tell your kid to use it for the arms.

  • Music player
  • CD with waltzing music
  • Wax paper

How To:

  1. Trace the ice skate on the wax paper and cut it out.
  1. Transform a large room in an imaginary ice skating rink.
  1. Give your toddler two pieces of wax paper to stand on.
  1. Tell your kid that the paper is slippery and it will work best only if he glides.

  1. Mix water with a half cup of baking soda in a large, shallow dish. Freeze it overnight.
  1. Divide the paint in small containers.
