1. Salar Jung Museum

The Salar Jung Museum is one of the National Museums of India. From books, paintings, antique furniture, jewelry, clothing, daggers, to manuscripts and more, the museum has a collection of over one million items. It was initially a private museum when it was opened in 1951. It became a national museum in 1961 and since, has attracted over a million visitors as of 2009. 4. Charminar

The Charminar is a landmark and a global icon that represents the city in the country and the world. The structure has four minarets joined by massive arches, with each tower standing at 20 meters tall. Many theories are surrounding the real reason for constructing this structure. Some say it was to mark the end of a great plague, while others say it was to commemorate the starting of a new Islamic year. Regardless, the Charminar is a beautiful monument that portrays grand Islamic architectural style. So, you must certainly visit this famous place in Hyderabad.

5. Golconda Fort

The Golconda Fort was the capital of the Qutub Shahi Kings before they moved to Hyderabad. The fort, built on rock, is spread over an area of 4.8 kilometers and is 130 meters high. The fort contains ruins, mosques, and tombs of the Qutub Shahi rulers. The fort was originally built in the 11th century and was fortified and strengthened later in the 16th century. Set aside at least two to three hours to explore the fort with kids.

The tombs are the final resting place of the kings of Golconda and are among the oldest monuments representing the Persian, Pathan, and Hindu architectural styles.

The Northern courtyard is the only area open to the public now. The palace also has wedding and function halls one can book.

9. Lumbini Park

Lumbini Park is a public park situated on the banks of the Hussain Sagar Lake. The park has a walking trail and a play area for kids. Water sports and boating in the lake can be accessed only through the park.

17. Hussain Sagar Lake

The Hussain Sagar Lake, locally referred to as ‘Tank Bund’, is a popular landmark in Hyderabad. The lake is the largest heart shaped mark on the planet and spreads over an area of 5.7 kilometers. In the center of the lake is the Gibraltar Rock Island on which the world’s largest monolithic statue of Buddha stands. The Lake, which gets its waters from the River Musi, divides the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The dam was built on the Krishna river back in the 1960s and has since attracted tourists from around the country. Besides the dam, the area also has a museum and an island called Nagarjuna Konda which is a Buddhist town.

Nagarjuna Sagar would be an ideal choice if you want to go on a long drive; this place around Hyderabad would take one day.

Prasads Imax perhaps is the first and the oldest malls of Hyderabad. It is the place you should go to if you want to enjoy a good movie on the large screen. At present, the complex only has a multiplex and a gaming zone for kids and restaurants, besides a few retail outlets.

One of the many Forum malls in India and the first in Hyderabad, the Forum mall is one that stands on par with the Inorbit mall. It is one of the most happening hangout places in Hyderabad during the weekend and has an exclusive play area for kids with video games, Burma bridge, bowling, and more. The mall also has the toy bus, remote motor cars that kids can ride in, and a multiplex too.

28. Ramoji Film City

Ramoji Film City is the largest integrated movie studio in the world. The Film City is huge spreading over an area of 2000 acres. It is one of the biggest tourist places near Hyderabad and has many recreational centers including an amusement park, an adventure park, a bird park, a tour of the film city in an open top bus, live shows, and more.

The cost of the package may seem a little expensive, but it is a once in a life thing and totally worth it.

There are many snow-based activities in the indoor facility spread over 2 acres. Kids can slide on sleds, visit an igloo, and also experience snowfall. So don’t miss it – this is a place to visit in summer.

Ocean Park is one of the most visited amusement parks, located near Gandipet. The amusement and water park has over 30 rides, including nine different land rides and eight water rides for kids.
