10 Yummilicious Chicken Recipes For Toddlers

By the time your baby becomes a toddler, her taste buds are ready to explore new tastes and flavors. Chicken must already be a part of her diet. But now is the time to give chicken, a ‘toddler’ twist!

Chicken is nutritious and tasty. And with these 10 healthy chicken recipes for toddlers, you can now give them a taste of ‘real’ food. So, get cooking!

1. Chicken Pilaf With Spinach And Walnuts:

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 1/2 cups uncooked basmati rice
  • 1 cup plum tomato, diced
  • 1/2 Tsp salt
  • Two cans chicken broth
  • 6 ounces spinach, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 2 cups chicken breast, chopped and cooked
  • 1/2 cup toasted walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 2 Tbsp dill, finely chopped

How To Make:

  • Heat the oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  • Now sauté the onion and cinnamon sticks until they turn light brown.
  • Next, add the rice and sauté for one minute.
  • Add some more oil, tomato, salt, and chicken broth.
  • Bring the mixture to boil, and then reduce the heat, cover the pan and let it simmer till the rice is tender.
  • Next, add spinach and raisins.
  • Sauté both for two minutes.
  • Now remove the cinnamon sticks, add the chicken and garnish with walnuts and dill.

2. Chicken And Avocado Wrap:

Ingredients:

  • One ready-made wrap
  • One avocado, mashed
  • 50g chicken breast slices, cooked
  • A few cherry tomatoes

How To Make:

  • Spread the mashed avocado over the wrap.
  • Now put the chicken slices and cherry tomato on top.
  • Roll up the wraps and cut them up.

3. Chicken And Mushroom Pasta:

Ingredients:

  • One tsp olive oil
  • ½ onion, chopped
  • 250g mushrooms, sliced
  • Two chicken breasts, skinless
  • White sauce
  • 125g whole wheat penne
  • 125g penne
  • 30g parmesan cheese, grated
  • Parsley, chopped

How To Make:

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Add the onion and fry for five minutes.
  • Now add the mushrooms.
  • Reduce the heat a little and cook for ten more minutes.
  • Cut the chicken into bite-size pieces and add to mixture.
  • Pour the white sauce next.
  • Mix well.
  • Cook the pasta as per instructions.
  • Drain the water. But keep about 200ml of the drained water for later use.
  • Now add pasta into the chicken and mushroom sauce. You can use the saved water to adjust the consistency of the sauce.
  • Finally, garnish with parmesan cheese and parsley before serving.

4. Chicken And Sweet Corn Savory Parcels:

Ingredients:

  • Two chicken breasts, cut into strips
  • 150ml buttermilk
  • 200g plain flour
  • 1 egg and one egg yolk, beaten
  • 500ml milk, skimmed
  • 2tbsp chives, chopped
  • 2tbsp oil
  • 1 red pepper, sliced
  • 75g sweet corn
  • 4 spring onions, chopped
  • 50g Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 avocado
  • Juice of ½ a lemon
  • 4 tbsp cream

How To Make:

  • Place the chicken strips in a bowl and add the buttermilk.
  • Mix well and set aside, preferably overnight.
  • For The Pancakes.
  • Take the flour in a large bowl.
  • Take the egg and egg yolk and beat it together with the milk.
  • Add this mixture to the flour and whisk well until you get a smooth batter.
  • Add the chopped chives.
  • Let the batter sit for thirty minutes or so.
  • Next, add a little oil to a frying pan and place it over medium heat.
  • Add a ladleful of batter to the pan. Make sure it covers the base.
  • Cook until it is slightly browned.
  • Now flip over and cook for another minute.
  • Make all the pancakes using the same process.
  • Now back to the chicken!
  • Heat some oil in a large pan.
  • Add the marinade chicken.
  • Stir until it turns golden.
  • Add the pepper and sweet corn.
  • Now cook for another five minutes or so.
  • Now and the spring onions and remove from heat.
  • Next, preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • Fill the pancakes with a spoonful of batter each.
  • Now wrap to make a parcel.
  • Place these parcels in a baking tray or dish.
  • Don’t forget to sprinkle some cheese on top before you bake the parcels for 15 minutes.

5. Chicken Burger:

Ingredients:

  • One Tsp lemon zest
  • 400g chicken bites mixture
  • Two bread rolls
  • A little mayonnaise
  • Some tomato, cucumber and red onion slices
  • A handful of lettuce leaves

How To Make:

  • Preheat the grill.
  • Add the lemon zest and chicken.
  • Season with black pepper and mix well.
  • Now shape them into two large burgers.
  • Next, grill the burgers until they are completely cooked. This should take around 15-18 minutes.
  • Divide the bread rolls in half and toast under the grill.

Now comes the fun part!

  • Spread a little mayonnaise on the buns and add a few tomato, cucumber and red onion slices, as well as lettuce leaves.
  • Your chicken burgers are ready to be served!

6. Chicken Fajitas:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lettuce
  • 6 tomatoes
  • Two red or orange peppers
  • Ready-made wraps
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • One red onion, finely sliced
  • 360g chicken thighs, skinless and thinly sliced
  • One clove garlic
  • 2 tbsp runny honey
  • Tomato sauce

How To Make:

  • Wash the lettuce the tomatoes.
  • Now make small pieces and pop the lettuce and tomatoes to decorate the table.
  • Do the same with the peppers.
  • Now comes the real cooking!
  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  • Add the onions and fry until they turn soft.
  • Now fry the chicken in the same pan until they turn golden.
  • Next, add garlic and honey.
  • Cook until the chicken is completely cooked.
  • Now serve!

7. Chicken Goujons:

Ingredients:

  • 400g mini chicken fillets
  • 35g plain flour
  • One egg, beaten
  • 100g breadcrumbs
  • 3 Tbsp oil
  • Ketchup

How To Make:

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  • Dip the chicken strips in the flour and the beaten egg.
  • Now coat them with the breadcrumbs.
  • Heat some oil in a pan and cook the goujons until they are golden.
  • Now take the scene to the oven.
  • Place the goujons on a baking tray and cook until they are completely cooked.
  • You need to let it cool and then chill it before you serve it with ketchup.

8. Roasted Chicken:

Ingredients:

  • One whole chicken
  • A lemon
  • A few garlic cloves
  • One onion

How To Make:

  • Put the lemon (halved), along with peeled onion and crushed garlic cloves inside the chicken.
  • Place the chicken in a baking tray.
  • Cook for 40 minutes or so. You need to cook the chicken at 190’C and then raise the heat to 220’Cfor the last 10 minutes.
  • Make sure the chicken is cooked completely.
  • You can serve the carved roasted chicken pieces with vegetables and gravy.

9. Fruity Chicken Curry:

Ingredients:

  • Oil, as needed
  • Two onion, finely sliced
  • A little garlic, crushed
  • Some chilli powder
  • Coriander, chopped
  • For seasoning, a dash of cumin, coriander powder, garam masala and turmeric
  • One cup cooked rice
  • Chicken breast
  • Tomato purée
  • Cauliflower florets
  • One small cup of whole milk

How To Make:

  • Pour some oil into a pan.
  • Now add the onions, garlic, chilli powder, cumin, ground coriander, garam masala and turmeric.
  • Add the chicken pieces, tomato puree, cauliflower, and the milk next.
  • Let the mixture simmer until all the ingredients are tender.
  • Now add the cooked rice and simmer until everything is cooked.

10. Chicken Risotto:

Ingredients:

  • One onion, diced
  • 1-3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2- 4 chicken breasts, chopped
  • Three peppers, chopped
  • 100g mushrooms, chopped
  • 225g Arborio rice
  • 1 cup peas
  • 750ml stock
  • Parsley, chopped

How To Make:

  • Pour olive oil into a pan and fry the onion and garlic.
  • Now add the chicken breasts, peppers and mushrooms.
  • Fry for a few minutes.
  • Add the rice and fry until everything is coated in oil. Make sure the rice is not browned.
  • Add the stock and cook until the water is absorbed by the rice.
  • Add another 250ml of stock so that the risotto is creamy.
  • Add the peas and stir well.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley and serve!
