2018 Was All About Big, Brash Shaadis And They Taught Us What Not To Do

2018 looked very extravagant in terms of weddings, right? The most beautiful women from the world of fame tied the knot. From the women of Bollywood to the daughters of industrialists, 2018 was “the” year for all the wedding enthusiasts. We got to see the queen of our dreams, Deepika Padukone and our desi girl Priyanka Chopra in their real life shaadi ka joda. And not just them, we even witnessed the grand wedding of Isha Ambani, daughter of business tycoon Mukesh Ambani.

The weddings of these three women ruled the internet worldwide in the last few months of 2018. Their weddings were lined up one after the other and the paparazzi just loved their job during these few months. But with each wedding came a lot of criticism as well. While some people went gaga over the wedding pictures and kept themselves informed with all the information about how much was spent on the wedding, how many guests came, who was the designer, etc., there were others who criticized the grandeur of wedding celebrations as well.

So yeah, 2018 was definitely all about those big fat Indian weddings, but these weddings also gave us a quick lesson on what NOT to do at weddings. Let’s find out what we shouldn’t be doing at our weddings.

Ageists Are Strictly Not Okay!

The age difference between Priyanka and Nick became the topic of discussion and debate in every corner of the world. From the neighborhood aunty to the most elite magazines of the world, everybody involved themselves in blatant ageism with respect to Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ wedding. Priyanka was called names like “budhiya” and even “cradle snatcher.” Yes, these were the terms used by educated people themselves. But, thankfully Priyanka’s supporters and the wise folk made sure that those who had nothing better to say about our favorite desi girl should rather stay shut.

We Suffered From Reception Fatigue

One wedding, three to four receptions and innumerable posts all over the internet. That was DeepVeer’s wedding aftermath. We all were introduced to the term called reception fatigue thanks to this couple. The public was honestly fed up with these endless post-shaadi shenanigans that Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh indulged in and even made the paparazzi indulge themselves in. We’re sure the paparazzi wanted to go on a month-long vacay even before Deepika and Ranveer wanted to go on a honeymoon. Any wedding function that stretches for more than a weekend can be simply termed as overkill. So, do not overdo your wedding.

Don’t Mix Weddings With Endorsements

We agree, even the Instagram influencers these days get their wedding sponsored. But, if you are a hustler and you already have your wedding sponsored, at least be a bit subtle about it, can you? We don’t to be disrespectful here. But, the wedding registry from Amazon that Priyanka participated in and our Jonas Jiju’s bachelor party looked more like business deals rather than wedding nuptials.

Aren’t wedding ceremonies meant to be all about intimate and private celebrations? Or at least, aren’t weddings about Saccha pyaar? Even if you indulge in these endorsements, stay low-key about them, puh-lease!

We Love Beyonce! Please Don’t Demean Her By Inviting Her For A Sangeet Gig

Yes, Beyonce is talented to the “t” and she has all the rights to monetize her talent. But, a true-blue Beyonce fan will never disrespect the Single Ladies singer by offering her a Sangeet gig! Oh yeah, you could ask her to bless the holy union of two individuals or officiate the wedding or even raise a toast to you. But anything lesser than that is clearly not acceptable, folks! But, Isha Ambani did it! Beyonce did perform at her Sangeet ceremony. While many gasped in amazement regarding this, her true fans like us couldn’t help but feel vexed.

Don’t Make Your Fans Wait For Your Wedding Pictures

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh decided to have a very private wedding ceremony at Lake Como in Italy. Well, that was a wonderful decision. We respect their decision of keeping it private and we respect their privacy too. But, why make such a fuss about your wedding pictures? Apparently, none of the wedding guests at their wedding were allowed to click pictures. This is ridiculous, right? What was the compensation here? Deepika and Ranveer got pictures clicked with them by their photographer and gifted a framed picture as a wedding favor to each of the guests. Please, dear celebrities, share your special, happy moments with us. We’ll only bless you and not put any nazar.

Don’t you agree with us, peeps? As much as we felt proud that our Indian weddings became the talk of the year 2018, these weddings were a little extra. And thanks to Priyanka and Nick’s wedding, the West even made the effort to google words like Sangeet and Roka. What’s your say in this? Let us know in the comments below.
