Ask anyone what is the first thing they do every morning, and without a doubt, they would say that they relish a hot cup of coffee. It is the most common morning ritual around the world. And why not? The earthy aroma of coffee fills your senses and wakes you up to a positive morning. A sip of this tasty beverage transports you to exotic lands through that bittersweet experience on your tongue. Drinking coffee is not just a ritual, but it is, in fact, an experience. While the drink itself is the world’s favorite, there are probably a few more things you should know.

Yes, you brew fresh coffee every morning, but what do you do with those grounds that remain sedimented at the bottom of the cup? Throw them away? That is a grave mistake. These so-called waste remains of the coffee can do a whole lot of things. Shocked? Surprised? Well, now that you know, this is what you can do.

Just spread these grounds on a piece of parchment paper, and allow them to dry. Once dry, you could bottle the grounds up and use them in the following ways.

1. To Remove Cellulite

Coffee has caffeine and a whole lot of antioxidants. While the antioxidants nourish the skin, the caffeine helps to dilate the blood vessels. All you need to do is to mix a tablespoon of these coffee grounds with about two and a half tablespoons of olive oil, and mix until you get a smooth mixture. Apply this mixture on the affected areas and allow it to dry. For best results, you could leave it on overnight by wrapping it with cling film. Do this once or twice a week, and in no time, your cellulite shall vanish.

2. To Add Nourishment And Fragrance To Your Hand Wash Routine

You could replace your hand wash with these coffee grounds. This will help exfoliate your skin and replenish it. It will also clean your hands and make your skin healthier and softer.

3. To Use It As A Nutrient-Rich Hair Mask

Packed with antioxidants, coffee penetrates deep into the hair follicles and replenishes the hair, giving it that healthy shine it needs. You could either use it as a rinse by pouring some freshly brewed and cooled coffee on your hair directly, or you can add it to another pack. Just remember that coffee is a natural colorant too. So, if you have light hair or colored your hair blonde, you might want to avoid using this.

4. To Eliminate Bags Under The Eyes

Eye bags are similar to cellulite, and coffee can help get rid of them too. You just need to mix some dried coffee with olive oil and apply the mixture onto the affected areas. Let it dry, and then wash it off. You will notice an instant radiance on your face.

5. To Remove That Unpleasant Odor From The Fridge

Coffee is so powerful that it can easily neutralize the odors coming from different foods placed in the fridge. All you need to do is take a few dried grounds in a cup and place it in the fridge.

6. To Clean Stubborn Grill Stains

Yes! You read that right. This versatile ingredient can even help you remove those stubborn greasy stains. Just place some of these grounds on your dishwashing sponge, and rub your grill with it. Rinse it off with warm water, and poof! The grease will vanish. Additionally, coffee works as an abrasive. It has all the qualities of a detergent, so you can go ahead and clean your pots and pans with it.

7. To Get Rid Of Those Pesky Ants

Our favorite beverage goes into a full-on warrior mode at the sight of an ant. Ants hate the smell of coffee, so placing the grounds around these insects is sure to make them go away.

Interestingly, coffee can also help you get rid of the fleas on your pet dog. Rub the mixture of ground coffee and water on the coat of your furry pet. This will ensure a 2-fold action: 1. The fleas will die, and 2. Your dog will smell oh-so-amazing!

8. To Repel Cats

If there are way too many cats in your neighborhood, and they are making a mess in your locality, don’t be cruel. There’s a nice way of keeping them at bay. All you need to do is spread these grounds in the vicinity, and they will vanish.

9. To Fertilize Plants

Coffee, as I mentioned earlier, is rich in nutrients like phosphorus, potassium, and nitrogen. And these, quite naturally, make it an amazing fertilizer. Just add these coffee grounds to the soil, and your plants will grow faster and healthier.

So there you go – these are some amazing, unusual benefits of those lovely grounds that give your favorite beverage its flavor and character. Don’t throw them away! You ought to make the most of them. After all, nothing works better than nature’s wonderful bounties like coffee. That reminds me, I will just go and brew a cup for myself. And guess what? I am going to make sure I don’t throw those grounds away!
