7 Patriotic 4th Of July Crafts For Kids
The history of any country is important to know and value, not just for adults but for kids too. How can you teach your kids about your country? The best way to do it is by getting them involved. Tell them stories about the big day and the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters. But if you want to make it fun and educational at the same time, you could engage your kids in some arts and crafts activities. We bet they’ll love it! So, without further ado, let’s look at seven DIY crafts to bring out your kids’ creativity and artsy persona:
1. Salute With Paper
Your kids can have some fun with this one. Roll a rectangular piece of paper into a cylinder and cut out paper strips until you reach halfway. Then staple or glue the paper together to secure the cylindrical shape, and you have your very own paper salute.
2. Paper Flowers
Just like you make paper fans, you could also make pretty paper flowers. Make three paper fans and attach them in the middle to form a complete circle. You could use all three colors of the American flag in one flower or give it a mono-color look. Make multiple paper flowers, and there you have it — a garden full of them!
3. Tin Can
Simple and easy, you can beautify the tin cans lying around the house. Paint them in the colors of the flag and add some sparkles to represent the stars. You can then use these painted tin cans as a pen stand, spoon holder or even plant some small indoor plants in them.
4. Glitter And Glam
Who doesn’t look all things shiny? It just makes everything look glamorous and festive! So, get your kids to decorate the letters U, S, and A with sequins, glitter, stickers, stars, and anything else they would like to add. Let their creativity shine!
5. Star Struck
If you want to keep things simple, all you have to do is cut out stars with colored paper. Blue, red, and white are the ideal colors for this occasion. Cut them out and place them one after the other in a horizontal sequence. Now attach a string behind all of them at the center, so they form a decorative hanging. You can put this up on your staircase or mantel.
6. Glass Vase
Why stick to paper and scissors? If your kids are a little older, they can make this beautiful glass vase that screams patriotism. Take a glass jar, vase, or bowl and add colored grains in them in the order of the American flag. White goes in the bottom, followed by red — repeat this twice to form the red and white stripes of the flag. Then, add the blue grains to complete the flag. You can stick silver and white stars to the surface of the glass vessel to represent the stars. If you don’t want to use grains, you can also use some colored confetti.
7. Paper Rockets
Don’t throw away the leftover cardboard rolls from the toilet paper rolls in your house! Paint them red or blue and add a mini conical top to make it look like a rocket. Use a combination of the three colors to jazz it up. Now attach a stick to the bottom, and voila — you have your very own Fourth of July paper rocket! You can also add some colored paper at the ends to make it look fancy.
It’s not every day that your kids will have a chance to appreciate their country and everything it has been through. While your kids are excited and engaged in these arts and crafts activities, you can tell them about America’s journey to independence. So, it’s a win-win!
