This incident serves as an eye-opener to all those who end up fixing their phones at small, illegal repair shops that use low-quality products instead of heading to the phone’s authorized repair center to save a few measly bucks. Now, that frugal act could cost you a lot!

We’re reminding you again that a battery is composed of chemicals which are maintained in a precarious balance, and disturbing that balanced state can result in explosions. Therefore, keep your foolishness at bay and never try to take a bite out of the battery.

Every cell phone irrespective of which mobile brand it belongs to has a certain distinct charger that is especially made to charge the device efficiently. We understand that just like our mobile phones, even its accessories like the charger or the charging cables come with a warranty of maybe a year, after which we might have to change it with new ones. In such cases, never opt for fake chargers or charging cables. Using these can cause your phone batteries to bulge, it can also lead to overheating of your phone, all of which can lead to explosions. You don’t just put your gadgets at risk, but also its user’s life at risk (3). Therefore, always buy the authenticated chargers from registered showrooms.

In India, an 18-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries caused by the explosion of her phone while she was talking over it when it was kept for charging (4). Learn to follow the safety guidelines of the gadgets you use, never ignore it. Make it a point to stay a few feet away whenever you’ve kept your phone for charging.

  • Never charge your phone when you find it becoming too hot or too cold.
  • Do not keep a charging phone right next to your body.
  • Never leave your phone on charging for the entire night. Charge it during the day, and make sure you unplug the charger when it’s fully charged.
  • If you notice the phone’s batteries running out unusually fast, then pay attention to it. It’s an indication that you need to replace your phone’s batteries with new ones.
