Halloween is that time of the year when one just cannot skip the drama. Regarded as the favorite fall holiday by families, people literally dress up as something or someone on October 31st (that’s something out of this world). And let us all face this fact — that Halloween is also “all” about sugar! Sure, there can be plenty of savory Halloween treats out there, but when it goes down to the nitty-gritty, we should only be focusing on the desserts. And when it comes to Halloween, it’s the sweets that reign as supreme! Just like the Halloween costumes, the desserts served on the occasion should be no different. Whether you’re someone who fancies a chocolate dream or you’re a pumpkin aficionado, we’ve got four amazing desserts covered for your Halloween this year.

These frightfully delicious desserts include cakes, cupcakes, cookies, etc. And we’ve left it to you. Go moody or mysterious with the decorations— ghosts, goblins, and dare we say, irksome spiders! Here, take a look at our picks and help yourself.

1. Chocolate Mice

So, these cute chocolate mice are made of three kinds of chocolate — a semisweet one in the center which is cakey and there are white and bittersweet ones in the crisp chocolate shells.

Ingredients:
  • 3 ounces of softened cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons of softened unsalted butter
  • 1 cup of confectioners’ sugar
  • 3 ½ ounces of melted and cooled semisweet chocolate
  • Two 9 inch warm chocolate cake
  • 4 ounces of chopped white chocolate
  • 7 ounces of chopped bittersweet chocolate
  • ½ cup of roasted pumpkin seeds
  • 1 dozen of Licorice whips
Instructions:

Step 1: Take a large bowl. Add cream cheese, butter, sugar, and melted semisweet chocolate to it and beat them all together. And 1 ½ portion of the warm cake too. Roll the mixture into ovals with the help of two tablespoons. Tamper one of the oval ends to give it the shape of a nose. Arrange these on a paper sheet and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Step 2: Preheat the oven at 275 degrees. Crumble the remaining cake on a baking sheet. Spread it even on the sheet and bake for thirty minutes until its dry. Crumble it and keep it aside.

Step 3: Take a microwave-safe bowl and heat the rest of the two types of chocolate until they are melted. Let the mixture cool down, and when it’s at 90 degrees, using a toothpick to poke the mice and dip it in the chocolate. And then roll it on the cake crumbs. Use pumpkin seeds to make the ears of the mice. Press them in the correct position. Refrigerate for 20 minutes.

Step 4: Combine sugar and water to make a stiff glaze. Using a piping bag, pipe the eyes of the mice. Use the licorice whips to make its tails.

And we’re done!

We recommend that you use store-bought cookies and candies to make the colony of bats.

Ingredients:
  • Chocolate cupcakes
  • Chocolate sandwich cookies
  • Chocolate buttercream
  • Candy eyeballs
  • Royal icing
Instructions:

Step 1: Use your favorite recipe and bake some chocolate cupcakes. Let them cool. Prepare chocolate buttercream and ice the cupcakes with them.

Step 2: Take a chocolate sandwich cookie and separate the cookies from the cream. Cut each cookie into half. These will form the wings of the bat. Place candy eyeballs on the cupcakes and then place the cookie wings on either side.

That’s a delicious colony of bat cupcakes ready to be eaten.

Ingredients:
  • Cupcakes
  • Chocolate glaze
  • Chocolate sprinkles
  • Candy eyeballs
  • Black licorice strings
Instructions:

Step 1: Bake cupcakes of your choice and let them cool.

Step 2: To make the chocolate glaze, combine milk, cocoa powder, and sugar. Whisk until smooth. Use an offset spatula to frost the cupcakes with this. Dip them into chocolate sprinkles.

  • 3-4 cups of cereals
  • 2 cups of oats
  • ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • Wooden or bamboo sticks

Step 3: Repeat step 1 and add yellow food coloring instead of orange. Spread this mixture around the orange layer on the butter paper.

Step 4: Poke in bamboo sticks on the sides of this round cake-like mixture. Let it cool and harden. Cut on triangles of the mixture and serve.
