Summer is almost here, and it has brought myriad skin issues along with it as well. Of all the skin problems, there is one which doesn’t discriminate on the basis of gender or age. It takes its victims across all age groups, but it’s particularly brutal with the teenagers. I am talking about pimples or acne.

I can already see you all nodding your heads ruefully in agreement. We all have faced this problem, and almost all of us have fallen for the so-called magical products that claim to make the pimples disappear overnight – facewashes, face packs, and topical solutions – only to be disappointed by them. Not only do we end up spending a fair bit of our paychecks, but we also expose ourselves to a number of chemicals, which have a negative impact on the skin in the long run.

Instead of doing this, why not make something on our own? After all, DIY remedies are a rage all over the world these days. Inspired by this thought, I decided to scour the Internet for some home remedies that would help me make an anti-acne face wash so that I don’t use the chemical one. Here are a few of them, try them and see them work wonders on you!

1. Papaya Face Wash

This popular summer fruit is loaded with an enzyme called papain. Papain has the natural ability to reduce inflammation (1). It also has the ability to remove excess lipids and dead skin cells, which makes papaya a popular ingredient in homemade facemasks that target acne.

Preparation And Use:

  • It is quite easy to prepare this face wash, all you’ve to do is take a slice of fresh papaya and mash it well. Keep the mashed pulp aside in a bowl.
  • Now, rinse your face with water to remove the accumulated grime and pat it dry.
  • Follow it up by applying the mashed papaya on your face. After that, use your fingertips to scrub it. In case you are looking for face pack, you can use it for that purpose as well, just leave it on for longer.
  • Rinse it off with water.
  • As long as you’re using it as a face wash, you don’t need to moisturize afterward, but if you are using it as a facemask, then we would recommend you to apply moisturizer afterward.

2. Honey, Turmeric, And Baking Soda Face Wash

Not the processed kind, but organic honey has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties which can work wonders on pimples and can also prevent infection (2). It is also known to smoothen the skin and make it softer. On the other hand, turmeric has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-bacterial properties that are known to provide relief by removing pimples and pigmentation and blemishes (3).

The third component of this face wash, baking soda, contains certain antiseptic components which help in cleansing the pimples.

Preparation And Use:

  • First, gather the ingredients in the following measurements: 1 tablespoon of honey, half a tablespoon of baking soda, and a pinch of turmeric.
  • Now, wash your face with water.
  • Next, place all the ingredients on your palm and mix them.
  • Apply the resultant mixture on your face, by gently massaging it in a circular motion. Do so for about 2–3 minutes.
  • Rinse it off with water.

3. Honey And Cinnamon Face Wash

This sweet and spicy combo can work wonders for your acne-ridden skin. How? Well, as we have already said, honey is naturally endowed with anti-bacterial properties. On the other hand, cinnamon too has antimicrobial components and together they can work effectively to wipe out the pimples (4).

Preparation And Use:

  • To make this face wash, gather the ingredients in the following measurements: 2 tablespoons of honey, one tablespoon of cinnamon and a few paper towels.
  • Take a small bowl and mix the ingredients in it to form a paste.
  • Now, clean your face by rinsing it with water, and then pat it dry.
  • Now, apply the paste on your face, using your hands in a circular motion. Do so for a minimum of three minutes as doing so will allow the ingredients to work effectively.
  • In case, you want to use it as a face mask, leave it on for fifteen minutes or till it dries.
  • Follow it up by rinsing it off with plain water. Use this face wash twice a week to get noticeable results.

These homemade face washes are not only going to make your skin healthy and pimple-free, but they are also going to imbue it with a rosy glow, provided you apply them regularly. So, try them on, and get glowing skin, in just a few days.
