7 Fool-Proof Ways To Get Your Makeup To Last All Night Long
What’s the best way to recharge after a particularly toxic, distressing week? Dancing the night (and your sorrows) away. And it is a fun way to detox too, but you know what’s not fun? Constantly popping into the bathroom to make sure that your mascara is not smudged, and you don’t look like a scarecrow. There’s nothing more annoying as constantly having to pop into an already crowded washroom to do a touch-up. And more so, when you end up missing your favorite song because of that.
But if you want to make sure that the makeup you spent time and effort on stays the way it’s expected to, all night long, then this is something you have to do. Especially in the summers, all that sweat, and humidity can wash away your makeup, and apparently, there’s nothing you can do.
But, wait a minute, we are here, aren’t we? Like a good all wing-women, we have got this covered too! Check out the little primer that we have put together that will ensure that your make up works as hard as you do in those high heels. Intrigued? Give it a read-
1. Setting Spray Is Your New Best Friend
Use the setting spray twice, once before applying the foundation, and then after applying it. Then again repeat the process when you put the concealing powder. This is because when you go into an air-conditioned environment the cold air causes your skin to dry out, which makes it absorb the creamy makeup products, leaving you with a chalky residue of the foundation. And then when you sweat again, your makeup breaks down. This issue could be solved by using the setting spray generously.
2. Use Primer On Your Lips And Switch To A Metallic Lipstick
While primer is essential if you want to make your foundation last longer, it is needed on your lips as well. Prepare your lips by hydrating them with a moisture-retaining lip balm, and then put some primer on them.
Take care to apply it precisely on your lips, as the lipstick will stick to the areas which are covered with the primer. After that, apply the metallic lip color, taking care to line the lips with it using a brush and then filling it in. This way the application will be precise, and because metallic pigments have a long-lasting power, it will stay on the entire night.
3. Set Your Concealer Using Setting Powder
Firstly, prep the area around your eyes by applying hydrating eye cream on it, only then apply the concealer. Since you want to make your makeup last longer, you would want to layer the products instead of applying them in a thick layer. So first put some concealer and then layer it up with some more. Use a translucent setting powder to hold it in place. This is the key to making it last longer.
4. Pair Your Mascara With A Lash Primer
We have emphasized the importance of using a good primer already, but very few people actually use an eyelash primer. Using an eyelash primer results in conditioning and lengthening of the lashes. Apply the mascara only after you’ve put on the primer. Make sure that the mascara you use is not old and clumpy. Apply it in a manner such that it’s thicker at the base and light and feathery at the top.
5. Use Multiple Highlighters
Has it ever happened to you that your highlighter which was on point at the beginning of the evening, disappeared without a trace by the time the night came to an end? If you answered yes, then we have a trick which will make it work all night long. The trick is to use highlighters with different formulations together and layer them to build up your look. Begin with a liquid highlighter to get a luminous effect, and then after applying foundation, apply some creamy highlighter around your cheekbones and eyebrow, using your fingertips. Finish it off by dusting off some powdered highlighter.
6. Layer Your Eyeshadow
Another tip to make your eye makeup stay on point all night long is to layer it up. There’s no way around it. A single thick layer of a product might not survive a night of intense partying and dance, but layering might. Begin by applying primer, and then a layer of light-toned powder covering the area from your lash-line to your brow. Then, build up the color by using heavily pigmented powder on the brow bone and lids.
7. Apply The Makeup With Brushes
You might be more adept at using your hands to apply the foundation, but if you want it to stay for longer, then using a brush might be a better idea. When you apply foundation using your hands the oils from your hands’ transfer to your face, and you end up using more product than what you require. It also results in inconsistent application of the product, therefore it’s better to go with the brush.
So, girls, that’s all there is to making your makeup last while you party the night away. Remember the foundational principle — layer your makeup and never forget to use a primer. As long as you have covered these basics, you should be fine.
