I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with my skin, especially my facial skin. I wonder if my skin has signed a contract with the universe that every time I need to go on a date, a few zits make it a point to accompany me to the party.

Then, my only concern is to get rid of these irksome pimples. And, I’m a sucker for all things natural. (Or let’s say I am a fan of less chemically laden products) Whenever pimples or any other kind of acne surfaces on my skin, I scan the Internet in search of a new natural remedy or any such products and test it on myself as if I were a Guinea pig. And this time, I came across this new product that the entire internet seemed to be going gaga over — it’s the Apple Cider vinegar. Of course, I’m sure you all have heard of it. But, have you used it on your face before? That idea never came to my mind until I read about it on the cyberspace.

Why Apple Cider Vinegar?

Right from being the best option for your hair detox to being the secret ingredient for a healthy gut, Apple Cider vinegar (ACV) can do it all. Naturally, I was keen to know how it could help the skin on my face. According to what the internet has to say, ACV can even heal the acne and even out the complexion of the facial skin.

I Decided To Try It

If you’re still unsure about using ACV, I’m being your angel here, because, I decided to try it for you (I believe in helping people). For seven days straight, I decided to swear by this ACV and use no other product on my skin. I used the ACV along with a mild facial cleanser and moisturizer. ACV is easy to procure and is readily available at the stores. This made it easier for me to pick it up and get started right away.

Disclaimer: I had no new breakouts before trying this product. I only had the old ones on my cheeks and near my chin. To be honest, my skin around them was pink, irritated and flaky. So, every day I decided to take some Apple Cider vinegar on a cotton pad and dab it on to my pimples after washing my face. I diluted the ACV with some water as I didn’t really want to expose my skin to the strong acidic nature of ACV. I followed this up with a mild moisturizer.

My 7 Day Affair With ACV

Day 1

Day 1

I was very apprehensive about not using my anti-acne products for a week in order to use ACV. But, for the sake of the good time and effort I put in to research about ACV, I decided to say goodbye to my acne saviors for a week.

So, on the first day of the use, in the morning, as I rubbed the ACV on my skin, I just couldn’t bear its smell. I convinced myself that I’ll get used to it in a day or two. Anyway, after applying the vinegar I put on makeup and went to work. In the evening, I used a cleanser to remove the makeup and applied the vinegar again. I noticed how the ACV soaked into my skin so easily and even the redness of my skin had lightened.

Day 2

In the morning, when I woke up I observed that my pimples had shrunk (well, most of them). Even the redness had reduced considerably. Seeing the positive result, I continued with the decided skin regime. Later in the evening, after removing my makeup, I noticed that my skin was a tad bit dry. So, I exfoliated it and then dabbed some ACV on it.

Day 3

The third morning, when I woke up, I figured that my existing pimples had virtually vanished. Although, the scars of the old ones still remained noticeable. I must admit that in the night, my skin felt super soft and I didn’t feel the need to apply a moisturizer or any additional product.

Day 5

This morning, when I woke up, I noticed two pimples had sprung up. I got a little worried and then realized that my monthly periods were approaching and therefore, the pimples!

However, I continued with my usual regimen. In the evening, I noticed that the pimples had worsened. I panicked and washed my face with a foam cleanser, applied ACV and went to bed, hoping that it would reduce by the next day.

Day 7

When I woke up, I was surprised and happy! I noticed that my pimples had shrunk considerably. Even my previous acne scars had lightened up a bit. I was convinced that with continued usage of ACV, my scars would disappear. I went to work with a happy face and in the evening, I followed the same routine — washed my face and applied the ACV.

My Final Verdict

While using the Apple Cider vinegar, my skin did not react adversely. In fact, as days passed by, I reduced using the moisturizer that I used generously before. In a week, I usually get 5-6 pimples, but this week I just got two. And those were because of my hormonal changes. My skin felt less irritated with the usage of ACV. I’m definitely going to continue to use this product for sure. And I hope it works for you too. But, be careful and test it on your skin before you go all out.
