Is Your Thumb Straight Or Crooked? Here’s What It Means

The next time you are stalking (yes, we are calling you out on this!), forget the dress sense or the smiles of the person. Look at their thumbs instead!

You’ve heard about green thumbs – a person who has this incredible ability to make plants grow well by seemingly just playing around with them. They don’t even have to be serious about gardening or botany! Indeed, we all know at least someone with a green thumb. But did you know that each one of us has thumbs that are distinct enough to be told apart?

Just like the lines on our palm tell the story of our lives, our thumbs can provide some brilliant insights into our personality.

You may not have realized this, but our thumbs are different from other people’s. It’s not like fingerprints, where each one is unique, but our thumbs differ, and accordingly, our personalities.

The perfect time to play this game secretly would be when someone gives you a thumbs-up. They think you are smiling at their gesture, but you are really reading their personality and knowing things they don’t think you will know about them. In fact, when that person sends you a thumbs-up emoticon on Whatsapp, go ahead and ask them to send you a photo of their real thumb!

 Maybe this is why the Roman emperor, Julius Caesar, ordered the thumbs of his captured opponents to be cut off!

 Like our hair and our figures, thumbs can be straight, curvy, or crooked (can be read as frizzy for hair). Thumbs also have different lengths, structures, and shapes.

Let’s explore the different kinds of thumbs:

1. Straight Thumb

Some just have it straight. There’s nothing that their thumb will do or they can do about that fact. It just stands straight without the slightest bend whatsoever. But this lack of dexterity is no cause for concern; it doesn’t mean that the person is rigid. The person is just a lot more serious than those with thumbs that do bend. Do not categorize them as party poopers just yet. They may not show how excited they are, but they may be the ones with the sneaky, lethal joke that causes first a pin drop silence (due to the fact that it came from Mr. Straight Thumb), and then an uproar of appreciation and laughter. Their seriousness works in their favor. Through determination and hard work, people with straight thumbs usually climb the ladder of success quite steadily. Their steadfast qualities make them a great friend to have, but don’t mess with them unnecessarily!

2. Crooked Thumb

Flexibility is the word here. Unlike the meaning of the actual word crooked, not all who have crooked thumbs are crooks. Crooked thumbs bend backward easily, and how much it bends depends on the person. People with crooked thumbs are very expressive, so, if you are someone who likes to listen and have deep conversations, seek people with crooked thumbs to make friends. The chances are that the calm and the patient among your friends are those with the crooked thumbs. They are the ones you want to call when you are stressed or restless because they offer strong emotional support and can help put matters in perspective for you. If they are stressed, people with crooked thumbs are more likely to enunciate clearly than perhaps those with straight thumbs.

3. Obtuse Thumbs

Will the musicians and the artists please stand up? Look at the thumbs of those creatively talented among us – they usually have a thumb that makes an obtuse angle with their index finger. Much like the rest of their fingers, such people have thumbs with clean lines that rise elegantly and look good even if they don’t get regular manicures. Such people are thoughtful, reflective, and creative.

Apart from these, thumbs can also be characterized as hard or soft thumbs. Much like those words, hard thumbs indicate a person with immense self-control, patience, and confidence whereas a soft thumb indicates a pleasant and adaptable personality.

Which Part Of Your Thumb Is Longer?

Observe your thumb for the two parts that it is divided into, and you will notice that those two halves are not necessarily equal. If the upper half is longer than the bottom half, then you probably possess a tremendous amount of willpower. This willpower allows you to excel and succeed through hard work and stay committed to the people in your life.

If the second half is longer, then it means that you are driven by logic. You probably have mapped out a million pros and cons list in your lifetime, and do not make decisions lightly.
