Want Your Kids To Stay Indoors? These Amazing Kid-Friendly Indoor Activities Can Do Just That!

As much as parents and kids love their fun days out, sometimes Mother Nature just doesn’t allow you to go outside. However, come rain or shine, there are still plenty of things that can make your kids stay indoors when the weather isn’t in your favour!

We know how much energy kids have and how easy it is for them to get bored, which is why we have come up with a list of indoor activities for you and your kids! Read and enjoy!

1. Home Made Play Dough:

Everyone knows how fun play dough, this is a foolproof activity, and has been going strong for generations and generations. To make it even more fun and less costly, make some at home! Here’s what you’ll need: 1 cup flour, 1 cup water, 2 teaspoons cream of tartar, 1/3 cup salt, 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, and food colouring.

Steps:

  • In a 2 quart saucepan, add 1 cup of flour, 2 teaspoons of cream of tarter, and 1/3 cup of salt.
  • Then add 1 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  • Turn your burner on medium/low and stir.
  • Keep stirring until it starts getting a little solid.
  • Once it becomes solid,add the food coloring immediately.
  • Now the dough will start getting thicker and a little lumpy. Just keep stirring.

Remember – the time it takes to make play dough depends on the amount of heat.

2. Karaoke Fun:

This is an entertaining activity for all ages! So, parents you can’t even get bored with this musical machine. Pick the songs of your choice and unleash your inner rock stars!

3. Strut Your Stuff:

This may be more for the mommies and their baby girls (even boys sometimes), as they usually love to play dress up! Let your daughter wear her pretty princess dresses and your heels, which will make her the star of the show! Let her walk down the ramp, take her photos, and there you have it – your very own fashion show. Your baby boy can be dressed up too!

4. Baking – A No Brainer:

Baking brownies, cupcakes, pastries – you name it – will take up more than enough time to entertain your kids. Also, they will be happy little helpers, as they know they’re going to be rewarded with some sugary goodness.

5. Healthy Ice Pops:

Speaking of things to munch on, why not try fruit ice pops – healthy and delicious! Here’s what you’ll need: 1 peach, cut into 1/2-inch slices (1/2 cup), 2 kiwis, peeled and sliced into 1/4-inch rounds, 3/4 cup strawberries, finely chopped, 1/2 cup blueberries, 1/2 cup raspberries and1 1/2 to 2 cups of fruit punch.

Steps:

  • Combine fruit in a mixing bowl, and arrange the mixture into 8 3-ounce Popsicle molds.
  • Pour enough juice into each mold to just cover fruit.
  • Insert Popsicle sticks and freeze until solid (about 6 hours).

6. Art With Milk!

This is a fun little experiment that is easy and makes you feel like a genius. Here’s what you’ll need: full cream milk, food dye, dish soap, a shallow dish, and cotton tips. Easy peasy.

Steps:

  • Add milk to dish,
  • Add a few drops of each food colouringto the milk – the more you add, the better ‘effect’ you will have.
  • Dip your cotton tips into the dishwashing liquid, and then dip them into your milk.

You’ll notice how quick the colours move around and mix with each other. Wondering how? The fat in the milk reacts with dish soap!

7. DIY Tent:

For some good, old-fashioned fun, get some linen and construct a fort or tent with sheets and pillows.

8. Puzzles Galore:

Again, old-fashioned entertainment! Puzzles are a perfect way to pass your time and bond with your kids.

9. Bagel Pizzas:

Slice up some bagels and let your kids add and make their own toppings. Pizza plus fun all in one!

10. Active Games:

In-door activities doesn’t mean you can’t be active, play a game of Hide and Seek or even make your own fun obstacle course!
