Either of the ingredients if added to the water will help the shells come off easily and also prevent missing chunks of egg whites which get torn along with the stubborn to peel eggshells. Instead, you will end up with eggs that are perfectly boiled and quick and easy to peel.

Your efforts of cutting, slicing and dicing in making a MasterChef style soup will all come to naught if you accidentally drop some extra oil into the cooking pot by mistake or utilize some extra butter while frying those veggies. The cooked soup will now be swimming with excess oil and grease. A quick way to get rid of the excess oil is to wrap some ice cubes in a paper towel and use it to wipe over the top of the cooked soup. The ice will attract the unwanted oil and grease like a magnet, and the paper towel will soak it all up.
