Mastering The Faux Bob With Long Hair

A little pondering brought about the realization that 2015’s trendiest hairstyle, the bob, is revisiting the elegant 1920’s. This year saw almost all the celebrities, be it from Hollywood or Bollywood, sport the uber-chic WOB (wavy bob). This blunt, shoulder-length hairstyle seemed to be the most coveted this year. Let us take a look at the rules that a good bob needs to follow:

The Rules Of The Trendy Bob

  1. A bob is not a bob if it is layered. But if a blunt end seems boring, amp it up by asking your stylist to thin out the ends using a pair of shears or a razor.
  1. The longer the bob is, the blander it looks if it is too blunt. Solution? You could try stacked layers at the back to add dimension.
  1. This cut works very well on both wavy and straight hair types. And the fact that it works when flattened out with an iron, or when you add some saucy waves, makes it an extremely versatile hairstyle.
  1. The bob suits almost all face shapes. Just make sure you identify your face shape and get the right length and style.

Get The Faux Bob With Three Easy Steps

If you have always had long hair, going short is a bit of a commitment. It does take a little patience and lots of maintenance to manage short hair. But then, with the WOB/ BOB being so much in vogue, it is hard not to get tempted. Well, there is a way you can get the BOB without chopping off your mane – you could fake it.

The faux bob allows you to go short, without really going short. All you need are loads of bobby pins, some time, and lots of patience, but a great result is guaranteed.

Here Are The Steps

Step 1 – Prepping The Hair

Apply a coin-size amount of shine serum all over your lovely locks. Then pull together the top half of the hair, from ear to ear, on top of your head, and secure it with a hair clip.

Step 2 – Securing The Bottom

Now pull together the bottom half of your hair and divide it into two-inch sections. Pull these sections up to your scalp. Pin the ends of your hair tightly to your head using bobby pins. Check the sections and put a few more pins to give it a strong hold, if required.

Step 3 – Styling The Top

Now it’s time to style the top layer. If your tresses are layered, unclip the top section and let the locks just cascade over the tucked in layer. But if the top layer is the same length as the bottom, you will have to roll the top layer, and pin it under the pinned bottom layer, once unclipped. Make sure the pins secure the hair well.

To finish off, lavishly spritz hairspray over your styled hair.

This is the basic bob. You could straighten it out, add curls and waves, or even acquire a messy look by styling it further. Just remember that you need to style your hair before you pin it up in a bob, because once it is pinned up, you will not want to mess with it.
