Pregnancy can be an exciting yet overwhelming journey, especially for the soon-to-be mom. On one hand, she’ll be extremely happy about the thought of becoming a mother. Whereas on the other hand, she might become a bundle of nerves thinking about the baby’s safety and the many physical changes her body will soon undergo. This is when an understanding partner helps. Of course, the spouse is always going to be there. But what if you had a fellow expectant mother around whom you’ll get to share this awesome journey with? Sounds exciting already, doesn’t it? And, what if, instead of just one, you had 8 other fellow soon-to-be mommies around? Shocked? Then don’t be because it is quite possible. Like in the case of these wonderful delivery unit nurses from a major hospital in the US.

It all started when a pregnant RM Erin Grenier, working in the Labor and Delivery section of the Maine Medical Hospital, US, found out about a colleague’s pregnancy. It was the fourth one this time. She was so amused that she started wondering if it was in the air. Maybe, because she soon found out that four more colleagues had announced their pregnancy taking the tally to 9. Now, Erin jokes that she was probably the first one to start the trend. All these nurses work in the same department of the hospital – Labor and Delivery. They are also unanimous in their opinion that their experience of working with deliveries is helping them prepare themselves for their own journey.

Most of the pregnant nurses are first-time moms while some are second-time and fourth-time moms too. As each of the pregnancies came to light, it became more of a bonding exercise not only between the nurses but also the rest of the staff. In fact, the entire hospital staff is equally excited about this baby boom on their premises. No wonder then that this happy occasion called for a memorable photo opp. On the 23rd of March, eight of the nine nurses had assembled for a group photo in front of the Labor and Delivery section. Initially, this photograph was shared on the hospital’s social media page. Within no time, this very photo became viral. Many online followers of Maine Medical Hospital congratulated the pregnant nurses on social media and sent a lot of love and good wishes their way. Most of them were also keen on seeing their little ones soon.

The nurses are, quite understandably, excited about sharing this journey with each other. Having worked together for quite some time, they all find it comforting that they are all “in it together” – a sentiment echoed by one of them, Giglio.

The hospital later shared another picture – this time with all the nurses holding colorful cards with their respective due dates on it. This made many online users wonder how the hospital will manage to cope once this number of their staff goes on maternity leave. From their end, the hospital has been equally proactive in dealing with the situation. According to them, since six of the nurses work in the same shift during the weekend, they are already planning to cover those shifts. With plenty of time on their hand before these nurses start delivering, the hospital management is positive that their planning will come into action at the right time.

Call it destiny or a coincidence, but isn’t it wonderful that these lovely women who have been helping other women deliver their babies will soon have their own in their arms? Not only that, but all of them will get to experience this joy around the same time! Here’s wishing these women the very best of luck. Ladies, we can’t wait to see you all together again – this time with your little angels in tow!
