With pregnancy and motherhood comes a plethora of responsibilities. It comes as no surprise then that women don’t get time to look after themselves during this phase. Thus, the daily beauty routine takes a beating. Can you relate to this? As a new mom, you might already have a lot on your platter. In between figuring out your angel’s napping and feeding time, you somewhere neglect even the essentials required to keep your skin healthy. In fact, you might end up making a few mistakes too, here and there. Here, we bring you some of the common beauty mistakes that a new mom makes:

1. Don’t Remember To Apply Sun Lotion

Many moms out there may have to spend countless hours outdoors, be it in a park, a beach, or a zoo. And, we all know that the raging heat from the sun is not really the best for the skin. So, what do you do? Of course, you do what you can to protect the skin from these harmful glares of the sun. Always apply sunscreen or sun lotion before stepping out of your house. And, in fact, apply it again whenever you get a chance.

2. Forget Protecting The Hair

While most women remember protecting their skin, it is the hair that everyone tends to forget. But, your hair needs as much protection from the sun as your skin does. It is essential to apply something to protect the skin and cover the hair before going out. It is even more important if you have chemically treated your hair in the past. You can probably apply a protective spray to ensure that the sun doesn’t damage your hair.

3. Wear A Lot Of Makeup

As you take your little one along with you to every occasion that you attend, maintaining your usual makeup routine might not be so easy. In fact, even your baby’s regular drooling sessions will do wonders for your face (pun intended). So, go for a casual look with little or no makeup. And, if you do apply it, make sure that it is waterproof as well as long-lasting.

4. Those Dry Hands

Now, with your angel in the picture, your day might revolve around a lot of diaper-changing and frequent cloth-washing. This might result in your hands becoming dry, and at times, even cracked. Make sure that you always have a hand lotion with you. After all, you don’t want to touch your soft, little angel with your dry hands.

5. Forget To Wash The Face Before Sleeping

A lot of moms tend to fall asleep while nursing their little one. After all, it has been a hectic day with your munchkin around. But, do remove your makeup since dirt and germs can continue to linger on your skin. Thus, keep some wet wipes with you at all times. And, just wipe that dirt off before you doze off.

6. Neglect Your Feet

Generally, people don’t remember that they need to pay attention to their feet too. But, at times, this simple negligence might result in painful calluses. And, with your angel at home, you are always on your feet. And, that will hurt. So, as always, prevention is better than the cure. Make sure that you keep your feet clean and moisturize it well to avoid such a situation altogether.

7. Don’t Stay Hydrated

It is vital to drink lots and lots of water. Staying hydrated can do wonders for your skin. With the chaotic schedule that you might have, it is natural to forget drinking water. But, no matter how hectic it gets, ensure that you drink enough water. Not only does it keep your skin healthy, but it also helps in maintaining the weight.
