It is a wonderful time in your life. You are over the moon thinking about the newest addition to your family. You are probably fixated on your future baby, decorating the baby nursery and following a healthy lifestyle as your doctor has instructed. And all that is excellent. But what about your skin? Yes, we know you have a lot on your plate. And not to mention all the curve balls pregnancy throws at you in the form of preggo symptoms. But that doesn’t mean pampering your skin and taking care of yourself should take a backseat. Think about this for a second: won’t you feel much better if you look good? Won’t it bring positivity in your life if you are feeling your best? Pregnancy doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your body and your wellbeing to give birth to your baby.

And while we have all heard about glowing skin during pregnancy, for some women pregnancy can make their skin much worse. And that’s why it’s important to take extra care of your skin while pregnant. We know pregnancy has its challenges, so here are super easy ways you can pamper your skin.

1) Drink, Drink, And Drink Some More

Whether your skin is dry or oily, hydrate throughout the day. You’ll be running to the bathroom a lot, but that shouldn’t stop you from drinking enough water. Carry a bottle with you if you are stepping out. And make a habit of drinking water soon after you wake up. If you find yourself breaking out like a 13-year-old, this is one of the first things you can do before we move on to the rest of the points.

2) Moisturize Your Skin

Pregnancy can make you itch like crazy. Your skin is stretching, and that calls for some extra love in the form of a moisturizer. Obviously, you want to stay away from chemicals, phthalates, and parabens. Look for something that is made of natural ingredients and is preggo safe. Shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba and avocado oils make an excellent moisturizer for your skin. Similarly, choose a face moisturizer that is suitable for your skin type.

We all know there is no magic formula that can save you from stretch marks. But moisturizing your skin twice a day can definitely help you to keep it at bay to some extent. The best way to moisturize is to slather on a good amount soon after you step out of the shower while your skin is damp. Massage it onto your skin for a few minutes for best results.

3) Break A Sweat

Check with your doctor first before you start working out. Unless you are having a high-risk pregnancy or some serious complications, you should get the thumbs up from your doctor. Walking, swimming, yoga… whatever you do, your skin, mind, and body will definitely thank you for it. So even if it’s the last thing you might feel like doing, get your lazy bum off the couch and get moving.

4) Don’t Skip Sunscreen

When it comes to protecting your skin from the harmful radiations of the sun, it’s important to choose the right product. Choose a sunscreen that has both UVA and UVB protection and an SPF of 30 or higher.

Sunscreen is not just for the face, but for any part of your body that is going to be exposed to the sun. Apply it 20-30 minutes before you head out into the sun. Make sure not to skimp and apply liberally all over your bare skin. Also, sunscreen should be the last thing you apply on your face. So, apply your moisturizer first and then the sunscreen.

5) Keep It Fresh Before You Hit The Bed

Your skin renews itself when you sleep. If you have makeup on your skin while you are asleep, your skin won’t be able to do its job. So make sure you remove all traces of makeup and dirt before you go to bed. Massaging your face with a few drops of coconut oil is a great way to remove makeup from your face naturally. After that, all you need to do is cleanse, tone, and moisturize.

Give your skin some love and see how it returns the favor. Pamper your skin during pregnancy with our 5 easy tips. You can also go for a good back massage or apply a natural face mask on your skin every once in a while simply because you deserve it. What are you waiting for?
