This case is so bizarre that it will blow your mind.

Every pregnant woman’s worst-case scenario at delivery is an emergency caesarian, and this mother just happened to endure her very nightmare from hell. Leicester resident, Amber Hughes was 30 weeks along when doctors called for an emergency C-section to be performed on her, minutes after she- get this- had already delivered her baby naturally!

Quite understandably, the doctors were left confounded when after having her cut open they found no baby. It was only two minutes later, when her newborn son began to cry and announce his presence to the world, did the doctors discover him in the bed sheets.

Amber, a 21-year old, had somehow naturally birthed her son Olly just at the exact same moment as doctors, from Leicester Royal Infirmary, began to perform the C-section.

Recounting her nightmare delivery, Amber had this to say, “It was horrific. I was expecting my bundle of joy to be passed to me, but instead, I watched panic spread over doctors’ faces. For two whole minutes, they were truly baffled until they heard little cries coming from my lap and pulled up the sheet to find Olly lying in between my legs. I wondered if it was the drugs I was on and I imagined it, not only was I cut open unnecessarily, but my poor baby was under a sheet alone.”

Amber continues, “I didn’t even receive an apology. The doctor just explained that my baby had already begun his descent in the birth canal when they cut me open and it was an odd situation. I now have a visible scar that wasn’t needed, and I’m still recovering from my C-section.”

Amber already has had three previous children with her long-term boyfriend,Daniel. A 25-year-old plasterer, he shares a daughter and two sons with Amber. Their fourth child, Olly, who will now be six months old, was a surprise.

During her pregnancy, her doctor had already warned Amber that she was at risk of having a premature delivery since she had lost her mucus plug around her 24th week. Just four weeks after that warning, Amber’s water broke at 28 weeks; 16 days post that, Amber rushed was rushed to the hospital – she was in labor.

Close to 36 hours of labor later and still 3cm dilated, doctors feared a vaginal birth would be impossible for Amber. Add to the fact; her unborn baby was already infected, doctors hastened to prep for an emergency C-section.

“I’d hoped for a natural birth like my mother, but they told me they had no choice because Olly wasn’t coming on his own and it was too dangerous to leave him. Daniel was by my side the whole time. I was awake when they cut me open and could see Daniel’s baffled reaction when there was no baby there. A nervous atmosphere filled the room, ” says Amber. “They couldn’t find my baby!”

It was two minutes later when the doctors happened to hear Olly cry that they realized what had occurred. Amber had had a vaginal birth at just the exact moment when they made an incision.

Amber recounts how the doctors scurried around her until they finally found her newborn son wailing in her bed sheets.

“I was literally going into meltdown, where had my baby gone? It couldn’t just disappear. Suddenly we heard something. Then they found Olly under the sheet, having passed naturally. I was on an anesthetic but could sense the panic. When we heard him cry I couldn’t fight my own tears.”

Olly, who weighed 3lb and 6oz at birth, is now as healthy as any other baby and a right ‘little fighter’ according to his mother. Though the story of his birth is one of horror and panic, it most surely though is a tale to remember.

After all, all’s well that ends well, isn’t that so?
