10 Signs You Are In Good Shape Even If You Never Go To The Gym

Somebody rightly said that “health is wealth.” A healthy and well-exercised body is home to a sharp and positive mind, and this synergy can create wonders. To get an overall sense of well-being, it is very vital to have a peaceful mind, moderate the food input, and make sure that workout sessions are not missed too often.

But for many people, it can be tough to head to the gym for a workout when they spend hours commuting to or from work or spend long hours at work or have many responsibilities to shoulder, leaving them with no time to themselves. If you are a victim of modern day living and still want to know if your health is in top gear, look for these 10 signs!

1. Hair And Nails

Your hair should be devoid of split ends, brittleness, dullness, and dryness in order to be declared as healthy. If you do not have any of these five issues, then you are blessed with a healthy mane! To check if you have healthy nails, look for signs such as brittleness, flakiness, and hard and dry nails (a sign of poor water intake). If you have any of the above signs, it may be pointing to an underlying health hazard; hence, these signs shouldn’t be ignored.

2. Eyes

A healthy pair of eyes is a very important part of healthy living. Did you know the whites of your eyes speak volumes about your well-being? Look at the whites of your eyes to see if you have kidney, lung or vascular troubles. The whites of your eyes should ideally be a bright white or the colour of an eggshell. You shouldn’t see the blood vessels in the eyes ideally and there shouldn’t be dryness or redness either. If you see any of these signs, it is best to pay heed!

3. A Healthy BMI

Having a BMI (Body Mass Index) within the range of 18.5 and 24.9 is a sign of good health. BMI is a measure of one’s weight with respect to their height. People with a BMI lesser than 18.5 are underweight, while a BMI above 25 and less than 30 is defined as being overweight (1).

4. Muscular Health

Weight cannot be the only parameter to decide if a person is healthy or not. Having a balanced body is more important than just having a slim figure. If one doesn’t have a functionally stable body, then it may cause issues in the spinal cord and it may prove damaging to the bones and muscles.

5. Toilet Trips

To make sure that your body is functioning fine, it is essential to watch your toilet trips. One must ensure that they make a good amount of trips to the toilet every day. The ideal colour of one’s urine must be a light yellow and poop must not be runny. If you have any issues that have been discussed here, it may be a sign of some kidney or bowel troubles.

6. Sleep Pattern

If you find it hard to sleep within the first 20 minutes of hitting the bed, or sleep less than 6 hours or more than 10 hours, then I am afraid that your sleep pattern is not good. You may have sleep-related issues if you wake up multiple times in the middle of the night or wake up tired and restless. Sleep disorders can exacerbate into serious health troubles and hence, any of the above issues shouldn’t be taken lightly.

7. Fitness Level

It is very important to check if one is fit or not, isn’t it? If you can carry out at least 150 minutes of regular activity, a 10-minute aerobic session without feeling too tired, 10 pushups without a break, 60 seconds of on-the-spot sprinting, touching your toes without difficulty, and 10 rounds of burpees, then you can be declared as fit.

8. Odour: Nil

If you smell repulsive (despite regular bathing), don’t rush for that can of deodorant to kill the smell, head to the doctor instead! A bad body odour is a sign of an underlying medical condition that needs attention.

9. Energy Level

The energy level of a person is a great parameter to ascertain if he or she is healthy or not. A healthy person has a good energy level during the day and can focus and perform well.

10. Blood Circulation

Having good blood circulation is a sign of good health as it means the arterial system is unclogged and healthy and all the parts of the body receive oxygen in sufficient amounts. When you don’t have numbness, muscle cramps or headaches, it means your circulation is great.

Despite being fit and fine, it makes perfect sense to workout regularly. If you are not fond of the gym, working out in a park or swimming in the pool can be highly beneficial too. Stay healthy!
