Once your baby arrives, you’ll automatically create a ‘to do’ list in your mind. And, topping this list would be your baby’s feeding routines. Post six months, your baby will gradually start on solids. Babies being fussy eaters, it becomes a challenge to come up with foods that are great to taste and easy to digest – all at once! One food that fits the bill is soups. They are wholesome, tasty, and easy to feed to your baby too. So, here are some nutritious and healthy soup recipes for your baby:

Sweet Corn Soup

Ingredients

  • Sweet corn kernels/corn on the cob – 2 cups
  • Diced carrots – 1 cup
  • Butter or Ghee (clarified butter) – ½ teaspoon (tsp)
  • Ginger & Garlic, finely chopped – ¼ tsp
  • Water – as required
  • Salt to taste

Method:

Steam the sweet corn and diced carrots together in a pressure cooker. Add a pinch of salt to enhance the taste. Cook for three whistles and let the pressure settle on its own. Once the corn and carrot are cooked, strain the water, but do not throw it away. Use the same water when you blend the corn and carrot in a mixer/blender to a smooth consistency.

Chicken Soup

Ingredients:

  • Chicken Breast (boneless) – One whole breast
  • Finely Chopped Onion – ¼ cup
  • Ground Dried Thyme – ¼ tsp
  • Dry Basil – ¼ tsp
  • Pepper – ¼ tsp
  • Water – As needed
  • Salt to taste

Method:

Cook the chicken breast in a pressure cooker with ¼ tsp pepper, a pinch of salt, and 2 cups of water. Once done, strain the chicken and retain the broth. In a separate saucepan, add the remaining ingredients to the broth and boil for 10-15 minutes. Once the consistency is slightly thicker, turn off the heat and let it cool. Then, blend the chicken in a blender along with the broth to a smooth consistency.

Ingredients:

  • Sweet Potato (cut into halves) – 500 gms
  • Milk – 1 cup
  • Honey (optional) – 1 tsp

Method:

Cut the sweet potato into halves or even quarters to help cook easily. Add a glass of water to the cooker and cook the sweet potato in it. Turn off the heat after 4-5 whistles and let the pressure settle. Upon opening, strain the water and peel the potato skin. Let it cool. Blend it in a mixer as you gradually add milk. Add a bit of honey to the bowl before you feed your baby for a dash of sweetness (optional).

  • Egg White/Yolk – 2
  • Garlic (finely chopped) – ¼ tsp
  • Pepper – ¼ tsp
  • salt to taste

Method:

Boil the broth in a saucepan and let it simmer for a minute. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites (or with yolk if you prefer). Then, slowly pour it in the simmering broth, continuously whisking it as you do. It should give the eggs a thread-like appearance. Thereafter, add garlic, salt, and pepper. Cool before feeding.

Ingredients:

  • Broccoli Floret – 1 head
  • Onion (chopped) – 1 medium
  • Olive Oil – 1 tablespoon
  • Baby carrots (chopped) – 1 small
  • Water as needed

Method:

In a pan, saute the chopped carrots and onions in a tablespoon of olive oil for 5 minutes or until they are soft. Add broccoli and roast it a bit and immediately add a cup or two of water. Bring it to boil, lower the heat, and let it simmer with a closed lid. Cook the broccoli until it becomes tender yet remains green. Once done, let it cool and then blend it in a mixer. Add a pinch of salt before feeding if need be.

We hope these recipes are liked by your little one. Sometimes babies might be allergic to a new food item, so make sure you check with your doctor before trying out something new.

*Use chicken or vegetable broth. You can make one by simply boiling the chicken or vegetables with a pinch of salt in water. Strain the chicken/vegetables and you’ll end up with the healthy broth.
