You know that Thanksgiving is around the corner when sweets, turkey, and widespread delicious food are the only thing on your mind. The Thanksgiving festival is a national holiday celebrated by various countries in the West. It’s a day dedicated to giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest of the previous year. This year it is celebrated on 26th November 2020. Friends, family, and loved ones come together to appreciate and are thankful for the countless blessings they’ve experienced in the past year.

The first Thanksgiving was celebrated by the Pilgrims in America after their first harvest in October 1621. The feast lasted for three days and was attended by 53 pilgrims and 90 Native Americans. It was a grand celebration of the autumn feast in the New World. We have heard about the great holidays through movies, TV shows, and music. Even though the East does not celebrate the holiday, we are well aware of the holiday because of the influence of the West.

Some Famous Thanksgiving Traditions

The traditional celebration of Thanksgiving circled around religion and its customs, but over time, it became about sharing a bountiful spread with friends and family. The traditional spread includes birds in various forms, whether it is roasted, baked, or deep-fried. Apart from that, some other foods include stuffed vegetables, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, and cranberry sauce.

Some other common traditions include volunteering, conducting food drives, and providing free dinners for the less fortunate. Parades are a big attraction during Thanksgiving, and New York City is famous for its parade, which has over 2 million spectators. The parade goes on for over 2.5 miles and features marching bands, performers, giant balloons, and mascots.
