The Best Date Till Date: 7 Varied Stories From Around The World
Most people remember their first date and the best date they’ve ever been on, that’s kind of a given. The interesting bit was knowing what everyone’s best date was like, and how it differed from someone else’s.
Here are the some of the responses that users of the popular social networking site, Quora, gave when asked about their best date.
1. “I think definitely when I was asked to go out on a date with a lady.”
Brian Sterling says that the best date he’s ever been on involved a girl who said “Hey, relax it’s on me” right after she’d asked him out. “And hey, she’s cute too, like it’s a guy’s dream basically; had to pinch myself” says Brian who also described the date as “totally awesome” since “all I had to do was show up and have a cool time.”
Guys like being asked out and pampered by ladies too, go figure.
2. “Made an impulsive (and somewhat expensive) flight booking to a city which I swore never to set foot in again.”
Fazil Mohammed says that his best date started out with a reckless purchase, but things only got crazier from there. “I did not sleep the whole night, prior to travelling the next day,” and that he got “all anxious in the flight about whether I’ll reach okay, whether I’ll get to spend as much as time with her and other questions.”
After a walk of “almost 3 kms after hopping off the auto in the middle of a raging traffic jam,” he met her “with an expression akin to a teenager on his first ever date.” Things went well, they dated a whole lot more. Cool story.
3. “Thanks for asking this question.”
Emma B says that her perfect date involved a romantic day out with her current boyfriend at the beach. “You made me think a lot about my previous dates and I realized that only one of them was great!” she says, adding that her boyfriend set up a picnic basket complete with champagne and the two set off for the beach.
“Then it rained. I did not believe in the romances like in the movies back then. That day made me believe.”
4. “I’ve gathered the courage to speak with her via Facebook and exchange opinions.”
Luciano Di Angelis says his best date ever was with his current girlfriend, and after reaching out to her on social media, they mostly spoke about mundane stuff like the weather. “Eventually, we decided where would we date, it was close to her place, near a river pond providing a rather romantic background such as trees, benches, and the chilling sound of the river coursing.” They took long walks together and talked openly about each other.
Luciano says that his meeting with her surprised him greatly and he says “while we hadn’t kissed on our first date however, I’ve felt a warm touch each time she would get close…” a feeling that he knew meant that he “…knew from that point that she’s a keeper.”
5. “The best date to me happened with my girlfriend on her birthday.”
Sandeep Ojha says that this special date started off with a three-hour commute from his workplace to hers. Sandeep makes it clear that his girlfriend looked the very picture of prettiness in her endearing lavender and pink anarkali (Indian ethnic dress) with her vivacious eyes and effervescent smile on her pink lips, adding that she “made me go weak in my knees.”
The date involved going to a restaurant where his friends had been kind enough to reserve the two of them a table, after which he “seized the moment and took to her favourite movie.” A good ploy because the two of them left midway.
“The empty stairs were like playground that day. We teased each other. We cuddled and got to know why there is a non-stop button in lifts for lovers and why there are empty spaces in malls.”
6. “The best date that ever happened to me never led to anything.”
Says John Hwang about his meeting with a Korean girl in New York. John was in NYC for a job interview after which he went to Korea town to grab a bowl of soft tofu. That’s where he saw her. “She was really beautiful with really long black hair. Almost too beautiful for me to ever muster up the courage to even start some small talk.”
As fate would have it however, they ended up sharing a table, after which they shared a long walk. He appreciated her beauty and her sincerity as a person. “She gave me her email on the back of our bill and then she left,” says John fondly, considering he “lost that bill on the cab ride back to the hotel.” What could have been, indeed!
7. “I went to see Paul McCartney in concert! It was a dream come true.”
Annette Vaillancourt says that even though she “didn’t think of it as a date at the time,” she fulfilled one of her bucket list items when she went to see Paul McCartney live in concert with a man 17 years her junior. They ended up dating for a while, but that first date “was unforgettable” with Annette adding that “nothing will top it!” We tend to believe her.
