Step One
This look focuses on the lower lid. But your upper lids cannot look shabby and undone either. Therefore, it might be a good idea to use a light eyeshadow, preferably something with a pale shimmer, on your eyelids. Apply it using a flat brush.

Step Two
Using a waterproof kohl pencil, line your lower lashline and the waterline.
Step Three
This step entails blending. Use a small flat brush and soften the harsh edges of the black kohl. Use sideways strokes to buff in the color. You need to blend in such a way that the pigment slightly overflows the inner and outer corners of your eyes.
Step Four
This is the final step to complete the reverse smokey eye. Use a slightly cool-toned brown eyeshadow in a preferably shimmery texture. Apply it over the black kohl on the eyelid with a small brush, making sure you focus more on the edges, and then, blend. You need to make sure you smoke out the look. Not only will the brown soften your look, but it will also help you achieve the color gradation that is key to a smokey eye.
