10 Things New Mommies Will Find Down Their Bra
There’s no going back from motherhood. Once you become a mama, that one single role will take over every aspect of your life, filling itself up in every nook and cranny it finds – from the corners of your house (trust me, toys just sprung up magically from every single place I took the broom to) to the very darkest and deepest pits of your handbag (a lipstick is the last thing you’ll find there). Sadly, it won’t even spare your bra, and you’ll find yourself unearthing objects you’ve never found there before! Here are ten things I’ve discovered in my bra since I became a mommy!
Discoveries of the Bra#1 Raisins
No, I don’t mean the fruit (although it wouldn’t be surprising even if that ended up there). Know those pellets of food that your baby just loves to throw around once they start eating solids? That’s one thing that used to fall down from my bra like raindrop after I took it off.
Discoveries of the Bra#2 Crummies
When raisins come, can crummies be far behind? And these are not even something that my baby dropped in there; it was just me trying to have a decent toast with some cookies and a glass of warm milk after being up for diaper duty all night.
Discoveries of the Bra#3 Toys
One of the joys of motherhood is coming across unexpected surprises, such as a tiny wind-up toy smack in the middle of your bra! Babies have this habit of thinking that your bra is actually a bag for them to store all their toys.
Discoveries of the Bra#4 Puddles
Breasts leak when you’re pregnant. A lot. Period. My breasts were so aggressive when it came to milk-making that they got to business every time they heard a baby cry, even if that child was not my own!
Discoveries of the Bra#5Breast pads
In my defense, I may have put these in on my own, but I almost always remember taking them out in between feeding sessions, diaper changing, putting the screaming baby to sleep and just being a mommy. Okay, maybe I forgot them there.
Discoveries of the Bra#6Hands
Isn’t it a pleasant feeling when you finally go out for the first time with your baby, and you visit the supermarket, having a nice conversation with the cashier and BAM! Up comes your baby’s hand to pop out your breast!
Discoveries of the Bra#7 Bite marks
Okay, this is not technically in my bra as on my breasts, but bras hold breasts right? Babies love to chew to relieve teething pain and they will not spare your breasts either because it’s just a squishy toy for them. And if gumming was bad enough, wait till you find real teeth marks there.
Discoveries of the Bra#8 Bruises
When my girl discovered her motor functions and developed strength in her tiny arms and hands, then I realized that her goblin size actually packs a lot of punch. I found the evidence of that in the bruises on my boobs – her favorite punching bag.
Discoveries of the Bra#9Confidence
For me somehow, my nursing bra turned into a symbol of motherhood. It served as a reminder of the things I could do for my little one on my own, of the mothering abilities I never knew I possessed. As unsexy as the nursing bra maybe, it took my confidence to another level.
Discoveries of the Bra#10 Freedom
I wouldn’t say I won’t miss the days of the nursing bra, but the day I got back to my favorite underwired ones, I got this strange sense of freedom. Despite being glad that I could pull breastfeeding off, I was still really happy to go back to a previous version of me.
These are the things I found in my bra. What have you found in yours? Let me know all the crazy things you spotted lurking around in your breast bags!
