9 Things That Can Be More Useful If Used Differently
Ever heard of lateral thinking? It is nothing but thinking differently. Granted, there are many intelligent women around. Yet, only a few of us care to think of creative solutions. For instance, we have a lot of clutter at home, so could we reuse what we have? Moreover, use them for something totally different? Intriguing, isn’t it? Let us take a look at how ordinary things can be put to extraordinary uses!
1. Tomato Ketchup
Your hair looks great with blonde highlights, but this time, the streaks have a disgusting green tinge that you did not plan to go for. Fortunately for you, the solution is close at hand. Pick up a bottle of the humble tomato ketchup from the kitchen! Apply a few spoons of it to your hair and let it soak for half an hour. You can cover your hair with a plastic cover so that your clothes are not stained. You will now be able to wash away some of this green because tomato ketchup is a great stain-remover. You just have to repeat this inexpensive treatment till you totally get rid of the unwanted color.
2. Old Toys
There are toys around the house that nobody plays with anymore. There are many ways in which they can be reused – decorate a tree in your garden with them, or let the toy elephant and the stuffed owl watch over the garden gnomes as they chat with one another. People will notice your garden and gush over it when they come home! Toys need not be just decorative. Old brick sets, especially, can be wedged together into multiple useful objects like key stands, umbrella holders, and cell phone seats. Do that, and you will be labeled the neighborhood genius!
3. Binder Clips
Binder clips are for office documents, right? Not necessarily! You can also clip other things together, like a wire that gets tangled. Or just clip them on the edge of the table at a distance from one another. Let the cords from the various charges come through them. Now they won’t get into a messy tangle that you have to work on every time you charge a device!
4. Rake
Just take a good look at the strong talons of the rake. Attach the rake to the wall upside down, and you can hang anything from it! Pretty necklaces, belts, bags, and key chains could be arrayed next to one another on the reused rake.
5. Olive Oil
Love dark leather? Make your shoe or wallet a few shades darker by brushing it with olive oil. The more number of applications of this oil, the darker the shade of your accessory. It is good for the leather too, as it absorbs the oil completely and becomes more supple.
6. Clothes Pin
Is it a harrowing experience for you to try and hammer a nail? Do you miss hitting the nail sharp on the head, all because you are terrified of smashing your finger? For those of you who are unsure of how to hold the nail and not get hurt, the solution lies in the wooden clothespin! Hold the nail with it, and knock it into the wall with a hammer.
7. Muffin Tin
The muffin tin, with all those separate cups, seems too cute to stay at home every day. Take it out with you when you go on picnics. Place it on the grass and pile up a variety of sauces, dips and sprinkles into each partition.
8. A Stick Of Spaghetti
Next time you cook an Italian dinner, stash away a few sticks of spaghetti. When you have set the table for dinner and it is time to light the candles, you can use one of these sticks to light said candles. These sticks are particularly useful when you are heating a candle that has melted low into a container. So, make use of these to save your palms from being scorched!
9. Vicks VapoRub
Vicks VapoRub soothes you because it has pain-relieving and mild antibacterial properties. So, instead of just smearing it on your chest and nose, why not give your tired feet a gentle massage with it? You will find relief from the aches and pains, and at the same time keep mosquitoes away from targeting the skin on your legs.
Additionally, does your dog chew the legs of your chairs and tables? Rub some Vicks on those pieces of wood, and he will instantly be put off by the strong smell. Some women rub it on their stretch marks to lighten them as well!
All of the above-mentioned ideas are easy to try out. And so very cool that friends and guests will give you points for smart thinking!
