7 Types Of Baby Clothes Every New Mom Should Own
Baby shopping! These are the first words that come to your mind whether you are expecting a baby soon or already a doting mother to a newborn. Despite making a comprehensive list, chances are that you might still feel you’re missing one or the other essential clothing item of your baby. So, to help you out, we too have come up with a list of baby clothes which are a must in your baby’s wardrobe. Check if some of these are already on your list. If not, time to add these:
In This Article
1. Baby Bodysuits
Popularly known as ‘onesies’, this outfit is multi-purpose. You can make your baby wear it with rompers, underneath a strappy frock, or simply as an outfit by itself. The best part about them is their utility feature – the envelope-style necks. This neck style helps you pull down the outfit from your baby’s torso instead of removing it from the head. This especially comes in handy when your baby’s diaper is full or about to blow out.
2. Kimono Tops
These tops come in flap-over styles with side-ward buttons or straps to fasten them. They are usually short enough so as not to graze around the baby’s raw umbilical cord. They can easily be taken off if your baby spits up. Since these tops don’t need to be pulled over the baby’s face, which makes them nervous, they are an ideal choice until your little one gets used to dressing up.
3. Beanie Caps
Babies lose body temperature rapidly, which is why it is important to keep them warm (1). No wonder then that the nurses at the hospital put one on your baby’s head soon after being born. Because beanie hats/caps are ideal to help keep them warm and regulate their body temperature. But make sure you buy them in cute and attractive colors and the material is soft.
4. Footies Or Sleepers
Who doesn’t love pajamas?? They’re super comfortable to be worn the entire day. They cover the baby from head to toe and help to keep them warm. What’s more? They can easily be worn as a complete outfit when you step out with your baby.
5. Stretchy Leggings
This clothing is very versatile when it comes to its utility. The can be put on in a jiffy, especially if you are out and the weather plays hide and seek. They are also very useful when your baby starts crawling as it can protect their little knees from grazing against the rough floor. You can style them in various ways as they can go with Kimono tops, onesies, or even underneath a pretty dress or a shirt.
6. Baby Bloomers
Also known as diaper covers, you might not be too keen about getting these. However, the fact that they are shaped in a way so as to cover the diapers should be the exact reason why you should buy them. They have a wide spacing and wouldn’t compress or tighten around your baby’s waist when the diaper becomes too heavy and expands a bit. Again, you can use them underneath any dress or just with a Kimono top.
7. Rompers
Rompers are also popularly called as a bubble or one-piece – meaning they are a top and a bottom all rolled into one! Make your baby wear it during hot summers all by itself or you can also team it with a T-shirt. They usually have straps either in the front or back that come with snap buttons either at the crotch or shoulders. They sometimes have elastic belts instead of buttons. Either way, this makes for one convenient piece of clothing when you want to change the diaper in a jiffy.
We hope that this list has given you a better idea about the ideal set of clothing that your baby should have. Did some of them match with your list? Or would you wish to add some of your own too? If yes, then please mention them in the comments section below. We’d love to hear from you – as always.
