8 Ways Baby Wipes Are Useful During The First Year
Necessity is the mother of invention! So goes a saying. But I believe that once you are a mother, you automatically start inventing a lot of stuff just to make your life a little less chaotic. With so many things on your mind – baby’s feeds, diaper changes, sleep timings, etc., – it is little wonder that things do become a bit chaotic down the road. So, what do you do? You’ll try many ways to balance things out. You’ll take shortcuts and make in-roads – from finding simple hacks to optimizing every resource on hand. This is because motherhood also gives you access to a lot of things, especially during the first year, which you’d have never used earlier. One such thing is the baby wipes. It’s one of the things that you always tend to carry with you soon after delivery. Although we take a lot of care while choosing one – natural, non-alcoholic, chemical-free – we hardly use these humble wipes for anything else apart from cleaning our baby’s tushes. Here are 8 other ways baby wipes can be useful, especially during the first year:
1. For Makeup Removal
Once you have a baby, you are so pressed for time that you may hardly get any occasions where you might use makeup. Even on those occasions that you do, with such a tight schedule, removing makeup isn’t always going to be easy, is it? So, have you considered using a baby wipe for it? These simple, pleasant-smelling wipes can remove that pancake in a swish. Worth giving a shot!
2. Cleaning Baby Face
If it’s safe for your baby’s butt (the delicate area), then it is certainly safe for your baby’s face. So, every time your baby smears his/her face with the gooey baby food, wipe his/her face clean with it. And hands. And feet. You got it, right?
3. Car Cleaning
With a baby around, it’s important to have a dust-free environment. While you may take care of it at home, it might not always be possible when you are in the car. Your car tends to get dusty when you are out, especially during an outdoor trip. At such times, just grab those wet wipes and clean that dusty dashboard, A/C vents, etc.
4. For Baby Chair Cleaning
The baby wipes can certainly wipe clean all that food smears. Use these to also wipe clean your baby’s high chair and food tray. You’ll be surprised how your baby’s chair looks clean, oil-free, and smelling good with the swipe of the wipes.
5. A Bin Freshener
No matter how many fragrant disposable bags you might use, the bin is still going to stink every time you drop that poop-filled diaper in it! Just dab a drop or two of your favorite aromatic oil on the wet wipes and drop these into the bin. It’ll smell as fresh as ever. You could do the same for your cupboards or drawers too.
6. Stain Removal
Stains are the norm of the day with your baby around. Whether it’s a coffee spill or your baby spit-ups, baby wipes help you clean them all up in a jiffy!
7. Toys Cleaning
Babies have a habit of putting everything in their mouths, including their dusty/soiled toys. So, just before your baby puts in that unhealthy part of the toy in his/her mouth, clean it immediately with these handy baby wipes. And don’t worry! The wipes are generally antibacterial so they are safe too.
8. Sanitizing
Since they are antibacterial and always at your disposal, baby wipes can be used to sanitize the area that your baby might come in contact with at public places. So, whether it is the toilet seat, diaper changing tables, or restaurant baby chairs, or even the pacifier, sanitize them quickly with those wipes before your baby uses them.
See, I told you baby wipes had more uses to them than we thought. Amazed, aren’t you? So go ahead and use those baby wipes left, right, and center. And I’m sure you’ll continue to use them long after your baby stops needing them. Like I do!
