1. Be Conscious About Your Work Obligations
Being a mother might have got you some perks at your office like flexible office hours or work at home arrangements. But try to stick to your normal hours and finish your work commitments within the deadline. You certainly don’t want to carry the burden of the previous day’s work to the next day. Before committing to a new role or a project, talk to your boss about their expectations from you, like if you are going to have to pour in more work hours and dedication. Knowing where to draw the line can give you little pockets of time to breathe and spend time with your family.
2. Meal Prep
Plan your meals ahead, so it’ll save you plenty of time throughout the weekend. You can peel, cut and store the vegetables in the refrigerator and use it during lunch or dinner time. It also makes grocery shopping much easier. If you have no clue how to go about prepping your meal, there are many ideas online that will be quite helpful.
3. Have A Morning And Evening Routine
If you are not much of a routine person, this will take some getting used to. But once you figure everything out, I’m sure you will stick to it for life. If you are not a morning person, you can also do some chores the night before to get some extra sleep. Plan your day accordingly, set a time for brushing and washing your face, packing the snack and lunch boxes, waking up the kids, etc. You can even easily squeeze in some me-time for medication or yoga to start your day.
4. You Snooze, You Lose
Hitting the snooze button on your alarm can throw off your entire day. Try to wake up at a particular time every morning so that your mind and body will also be better adapted to it. Or else, you might be caught in a sleepy spiral. Learn to sleep at a constant time every day so that you allow yourself enough hours of rest.
5. Set A Cleaning Schedule
You don’t want to spend your precious weekend time cleaning, do you? Plan your weekly and monthly cleaning schedule. Allocate a day every week to do some cleaning work. You can also divide the chores between your partner and your child if he/she is old enough. This way, you are not the one carrying all the load.
6. Spend Some Mommy Time With Kids
Spend quality time with your kids. You don’t always have to go big and all out. Sometimes, a good family meal with good conversation is all you need. Ask them about their day and how things are going at school. Plan a movie night or a game night whenever you have some spare time. You can also read them their favorite stories before going to bed.
Believe me, it’s not as hard as you might think. We know how elusive “me-time” moments can be. Don’t feel rushed to do everything all at once. Give yourself a break. Take your time, and to help things work, have a planner to make a to-do list.
