What Healthy People Do Every Morning
It almost seems like the entire world is on a fitness fad these days! I mean, wherever you look, everyone’s either discussing paleo diets or keto diets or talking about how CrossFit helps you keep plateaus at bay as opposed to the same routine at the gym every day. And while we are not saying that it’s a bad thing, sometimes it just becomes very overwhelming trying to keep up with what fitness has come to mean these days.
However, we feel that sometimes, in this mad rush to keep up with what’s trending in fitness currently, we lose touch with what actually makes a difference when it comes to being fit. Because, honestly, fitness is not just about the shakes that you drink or the maneuvers that you do with the gym equipment. It is so much more than that. We often tend to forget this and neglect what is most crucial when it comes to being healthy – having a healthy and fresh mind.
In fact, we have become so far removed from this concept that when someone talks about this – the health of the mind and its freshness – we either laugh it off or look at them with awe and admiration! Sometimes, we also tend to believe that only people who are regular yoga or qigong practitioners are the ones who can achieve this state of almost zen.
After you are done reading this article, you will realize that all of these assumptions that you have been making are, in fact, wrong. And everyone can achieve that kind of health so long as they do the following things that every person with a healthy body and mind does!
1. Drink Water First Thing In The Morning
As soon as you wake up, make it a habit to drink at least one glass of water that is at room temperature. Many of us are addicted to our caffeine fixes and cannot complete our morning businesses unless we have one of those. But trust us, just pure simple water is all that your body needs after being without it for at least 8 hours. Caffeine is dehydrating and rather than refreshing your body, it actually further pushes it into a state of water deprivation. So, just try doing this, and we promise you that you won’t regret it. Your body will thank you profusely and so will your mind!
2. Gather Positivity Around You As Soon As You Wake Up
Some of you might scoff at this, but this practice really helps in ensuring that you have a positive day. Because of the stressful nature of our jobs these days, many of us wake up in the morning thinking about all the possible ways in which every scenario for the day could go wrong. This really is not helping with your already stressed body and can, in fact, cause more stress, which, in turn, will wreak havoc internally. From our experience, we have seen that thinking positively about scenarios actually helps in getting positive results even in real life. It might sound like fairytales and airy talk, but it really does help. Make it a part of your morning ritual. Every morning, as soon as you wake up, instead of anticipating what could go wrong, think about what can go right.
3. Make Sure To Start Your Day With A Good And Filling Breakfast
Most of us tend to skip breakfast because who doesn’t want a few precious extra minutes in the bed, right? Most of us tend to jump out of bed, grab a yogurt or a juice and rush out to face the day’s challenges. This is perhaps the unhealthiest habit of all. While we understand that our jobs demand that we have quick fixes for everything (including food), having a bowl of sugary cereal first thing in the morning is really not a very good idea. Instead, try and look for food that helps bring your brain back to life after a long spell of inactivity. We suggest foods like avocados, blueberries, and even nuts. These are not just extremely healthy and full of antioxidants, they also nudge your brain awake (albeit gently) and make sure it is functioning at its full potential.
4. Do Not, We Repeat, Do Not Look At Your Phone First Thing In The Morning
Just like we are addicted to caffeine, we are also addicted to social media. And our day seems incomplete without us checking our phones first thing in the morning. This is actually super unhealthy and can contribute to the spread of negativity in your life. And we all know that negativity is what ultimately leads to unhealthiness. So, keep that phone away and, rather, wake up and resort to point number 3 for a more peaceful, happy, and satisfied life.
