Don’t you think every single person out there has their own definition of a ‘perfect partner’? Also, most of us our own dream to find one, don’t we? Some start looking for their ideal partner, while some sit back and wait for the right time when they can hear the violins play in the background to signal that they’ve found “the one”.
We wouldn’t be wrong to say that the entire world is focused on the whole “prince charming” idea alone. But, what about the other gender’s preferences? We either ignore or never care enough about what an ‘ideal lady’ is for a man. We shouldn’t be complaining here because it’s the oldest problem of relationships – we just don’t have any idea what the opposite sex thinks of us (it’s a never-ending mystery). We tried to find the answers for what men generally look for in a relationship. We asked quite a number of guys out there and came up with the following list that decoded the mystery. Here’s the list ladies, help yourself now.
1. Men Want Their Women To Be Honest With Them
So, it isn’t just the women who like men who “pinky-swear” to them. Even the men prefer women who never lie and are honest and genuine in their dealings with them. Women believe in the notion that men like all superficial things such as flattery, but that isn’t the case. Men want to listen to the truth (1). But please understand that speaking the truth is very different from criticizing your man. So, always know what kind of truth you’re talking about. Express your opinions frankly but don’t be judgmental.
2. Men Like To Chat As Much Women Do
No, no, we are not saying that men like empty chatter, but they do love listening to their partner talk about life in general. They want to understand how life is going on at their end as well. Research has claimed that good communication is the key to strong relationships (2). You definitely need to be able to sit down with your partner and get chatty about the most inconsequential to the most serious topics of your life. Being able to talk your heart out while you’re with your woman is what a man looks for in a relationship.
3. Behold! Men Are More Romantic Than Women
Just recall all the relationships you’ve been in, ladies. We’re sure it was him who confessed his feelings first, right? Well, it turns out that it is the men who leave women behind when it comes to being romantic (3). They are more aspirational and whimsical when it comes to the notion of love whereas women have a more pragmatic approach towards it.
4. Men Do Like Women Wearing Makeup
There we said it! It’s a lie, a conspiracy, if you find a man saying he doesn’t prefer women with makeup. An American dating site claims that women who put on some makeup and are dressed according to the latest trends are the ones who get more proposals (4). Therefore, we can definitely conclude that physical attractiveness is something that holds value for the men around us.
5. How To Make Way To His Heart? Through His Stomach Of Course
Nah, don’t call it a stereotype. Homemade food is vital for men. The aroma of an appetizing dish can ring the bells of coziness for a couple. Moreover, men do feel extremely happy to see their women put in efforts and learn to cook their favorite dish for them. We aren’t saying men demand this; but, who doesn’t like feeling special, right? So, yeah, men like to see their women cook for them.
6. Men Don’t Always Have Bodily Pleasure On Their Mind
Yes, we agree that men do think about sex more than the women do. But there are studies that have proven that men don’t want physical intimacy all the time (5). They also love the feeling of warmth, understanding, and a tight hug. Therefore, women out there, you need to stop typecasting men as lustful creatures.
7. Men Too Dream Of Having A Family
There are two things that women are accustomed to thinking of when it comes to men. One, men don’t really want to start a family. Two, men prefer having sons. Both of these can be considered hogwash because studies show that men, in fact, prefer having a daughter any day over a son (6). The reason is quite obvious; men know how hard it is to raise a boy who is more likely to be mischievous (smirk face) and they love daughters because there’s nothing cuter than a man tending to a teeny-weeny girl who is just like him. But anyway, a kid’s gender doesn’t matter these days. Kids make a family complete. And that’s what matters the most.
Men have a heart too peeps. Yes, it might be tricky to understand them because we’ve never thought of them as emotional beings, amidst all the Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota prejudices.
